Job Description

A senior legal leadership role that partners closely with the PepsiCo Beverages North America (PBNA) Supply Chain and Operations teams. Focus areas: Food Safety/FDA, Product Quality, and supply chain projects. The successful candidate will have a broad and deep knowledge of the business, an ability to advise and influence senior level executives, strong client relationships in multiple functions, and the ability to collaborate effectively across the broader PepsiCo law department – all while supporting company goals and advancing transformative, complex, and strategic initiatives. This role is ideal for a candidate with legal expertise in Food Safety and Operations areas. This role will be based out of Purchase, NY with the option to be based in Plano, TX or Chicago, IL.

Accountabilities

  • Support PBNA Quality Team: Provide advice on FDA matters, product defect/recall situations, crisis management and manufacturing-related issues, including FSMA and facility inspections. Support R&D support on food-related questions. Support compliance with applicable regulations for plants and facilities. Support a R&D production facility on operations topics.
  • Support PBNA’s CapEx Committee by reviewing requests and documentation for Capex projects.
  • Support M&A Transactions with product quality and supply chain aspects.
  • Legal Training: Create and hold legal training sessions for business teams on relevant legal topics
  • Project-based legal support on material business projects as they arise, including tax, regulations, innovation, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Qualifications:
      • J.D. at an accredited law school, minimum of ten years related legal experience preferably gained at a corporate legal department of a large consumer products company and/or large law firm. Engineering, science, environmental or regulatory background strongly preferred.
      • Strong academic/professional credentials required as well as superior writing and communication skills
  • Skills and Experiences Required/Preferred:
  • Deep knowledge of FDA/Food Regulatory legal areas. Broad-based legal skills and subject matter knowledge expertise in beverages and food law. Experience in legal support of supply chain/EHS, litigation, sales, marketing and/or corporate transactions a plus. Deep experience in contract negotiation and drafting commercial contracts essential.
  • Problem-solving outlook and ability to work at a fast pace to drive forward the strategic vision of the PBNA business.
  • Strong ability to manage a small team in an effective and growth-focused manner.
  • Strong ability to build trust relationships with senior leaders that will enable candidate to deliver strategic risk assessments at a fast pace. Executive maturity for regular interaction with senior leaders.
  • Collaborative style necessary. Candidate will be required to coordinate and liaise on a frequent basis with numerous internal PepsiCo cross-functional teams on a regular basis.
