We are looking for a Sr. Technical Program Manager to drive the design integration of a critical program. You will independently lead broad cross-organization efforts from the early stages through release. You will be responsible for influencing organization roadmap priorities, system owners, and technical direction. You will represent difficult trade-off decisions and solutions clearly to senior leaders to help them understand decisions and options. You will leverage your technical knowledge to drive technical trade-off decisions. You will be able to identify when a technical solution requires additional technical guidance.
You will manage cross-functional and cross-organization communication to ensure all stakeholders are informed, and needs are aligned. You will guide the technical direction and decisions to deliver a solution that meets Amazon high standards for customer satisfaction, efficiency, stability, extensibility, simplicity, and operational excellence.
As a Sr. TPM at Amazon, you will be both the technical and program manager expert and you will need to amplify your impact by educating and mentoring other Technical Program Managers around you on program management best-practices and will be actively involved mentoring more junior team members.
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive the delivery of new capabilities for Prime Air Vehicle across teams through concept, design, requirements development, test and deployment.
- Own and drive software/hardware milestone tracking and implementation, dependency mapping, and schedule updates.
- Work with other TPMs and technical leads to create, implement, and drive processes that improve execution and communication.
Export Control License
This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: avionics, navigation systems, control systems, autonomous systems, robotics, computer vision, machine learning.
- 5+ years of Technical Program Management experience
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience discovering the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet timelines with solutions
- Understanding of software development processes and experience shipping software on time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in tools required to manage complex projects
- Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Engineering experience in the development of autonomous or aerospace systems
- Experience setting organization level goals, analyzing cost/benefit of large initiatives, formulating program and project charters and driving delivery across multiple business and engineering teams.
