Within AWS Public Sector, NP Healthcare is a rapidly growing, mission-driven business that is obsessed about serving our healthcare provider customers. The Strategic Business Engagement and Development Lead is a critical member of the NP Healthcare leadership team and supports the General Manager, Healthcare, in a highly impactful role providing leadership, operational rigor, creative direction, and business development to support our business operations and objectives.

Known as a trusted leader with strong healthcare domain, technology, and operational managerial experience, the Strategic Business Engagement and Development Lead will exercise leadership on many levels (externally as well as behind the scenes, directly and by influence), as you work to develop and lead operational programs, technical work-streams, solve behind-the-scenes problems, and drive important business initiatives on behalf of the General Manager. This individual will establish operational and communication best practices, manage and lead reporting and meeting cadences, measure and drive achievement of strategic goals and objectives, ensure operational rigor and highest standards, and help build organizational capacity to scale the NP Healthcare business. You will leverage business development, strategic planning, communication, operational management, and advisory skills to enhance the overall organizational management and will help lead the development and execution of key business strategies and operations.

The Strategic Business Engagement and Development Lead will work with the General Manager to provide strategic business leadership, technical direction, and creative direction to drive adoption of the most cutting-edge and transformational capabilities enabled by the world’s best-in-class technologies as we establish deep relationships with our customers and build trust with the broader sector. This will include:

  • Taking a leadership role for critical technical and operational projects and strategic and technical business development initiatives impacting our business and AWS’s relationship with the health system industry;
  • Supporting the General Manager is creating and engaging in thought leadership opportunities, including content development, positioning, analyses, supporting data, and outreach for NP Healthcare business, both technical and strategic;
  • Managing the development and execution of key initiatives and cross-customer technical business development efforts focused on health system customers, in particular priority sales efforts;
  • Developing, building, and executing strategic initiatives and cross-customer business development efforts to drive NP Healthcare’s mission to become the most trusted strategic technology and innovation partner to our customers;
  • Lead our work to enable General Manager and the NP Healthcare leadership to anticipate, keep abreast of, and proactively influence both industry-wide and particular customer aspirations, needs, and solutions;
  • Other areas as requested by General Manager.

The Strategic Business Engagement and Development Lead will drive leadership of critical business operational initiatives, programs, and activities, including development, ownership, improvement, and implementation of the following:

  • Taking leadership role for critical projects that span NP Healthcare business;
  • Developing, deploying, and ensuring best practices are generated, documented and shared across the NP Healthcare business;
  • Ensuring the highest standards are implemented in standard reporting and templatized documents and managing the development, coordination, consolidation, and approval by the General Manager of org-wide documents like monthly business reviews (MBRs), strategic objective reviews (SORs), annual operational plans, objectives and key results (OKRs) tracking, and other important business documents;
  • Driving effective processes and establish and cultivating high presentation and communication standards, including creating and providing templates for key documents, intended for both external customers and internal executive alignment and approval;
  • Reviewing all business materials in advance to ensure appropriate executive focus, strategic positioning, operational rigor, and level of detail, and raising the bar on written communications before General Manager review;
  • Creating and managing operational cadence and accountability for NP Healthcare team;
  • Providing leadership support for teams needing help thinking through business, communication, and operational challenges;
  • Facilitating senior leadership decisions and processes by implementing systems ensuring strong follow-up management occurs on action items and questions with relevant leaders, account teams, influence stakeholders, and customers;
  • Ensuring efficient and effective management of business priorities by ensuring General Manager time is focused on the highest value activities and issues;
  • Drawing General Manager’s focus and attention to key bottlenecks, identifying potential solutions, and leading implementation;
  • Serving as a proxy for General Manager in certain internal and external meetings;
  • Pre-reading and summarizing major business write-ups from teams, as appropriate;
  • Building and managing agendas for leadership team, ensuring excellent preparation of materials well in advance of meetings, and running standing team meetings;
  • Providing an independent perspective to the General Manager and acting as a trusted sounding-board for ideas, internal issues, and operational challenges;
  • Raise the bar on all aspects of operational rigor and written communications, including all internal processes, approval timelines, and ensuring seamless execution in our high velocity, rapidly changing, high volume environment;
  • Managing follow-ups to requests and action items, discovering root causes, and leading fixes for the issue, while identifying recurring defects or processes that need stronger documentation and accountability;
  • Support and help drive employee-facing improvements in organizational health based on feedback from the team.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in related roles within an Enterprise organization
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience and a tenured leadership foundation in the following areas: planning & process, communications (including executive-level), organizational change and development, business development, and strategy and execution
  • 8+ years of experience directing and managing business critical, cross-functional programs and initiatives.
  • 8+ years working with customers and/or business owners to define key business questions, to build data sets that answer those questions, and to deliver written and oral communications at all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree; graduate degree in business, communications, or related fields


  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with a high tolerance for ambiguity & complexity, Ownership skills, ability to deliver results, efficient with limited resources
  • Experience navigating a global, matrixed, virtual work environment
  • Ability to prioritize, communicate clearly, demonstrate ability to influence others, earn trust across all levels of organizations (of highly regulated customers)
  • Demonstrated success in engaging, facilitating development and programs for C-suite of large healthcare customers.
  • Stregths in bias for action, problem solving, issue-resolution, meeting deadlines, attention to detail, multitasking
  • Successfully establish relationships, lead & influence
  • Experience working in highly-matrixed, technology-focused environment and delivering results with the right quality and in a timely fashion
  • Previous experience as a strategy & operations leader in a large, complex organization
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

• The pay range for this position in Colorado is $193,000 – 262,000/yr. Our range of benefits may include health care, employee discounts, 401(k) savings plans, paid time off, and more.
