About the role / Some of the things we’d like you to do:

The Creative Strategy team provides the constraints necessary for creative ideas and executions to thrive. You’ll do that by being:

  • Relentlessly curious in your approach to data and research
  • An extreme reductionist in finding a singular and potent insight
  • Innately inventive in your ability to translate strategic territories into creative media ideas and thought starters
  • A world builder for creative concepts to ensure ideas stretch to meet the demands of a fragmenting media landscape
  • As Creative Strategy Director, you will play a pivotal role in isolating strategic territories for creative media – including custom partnerships, content programs, and new data-powered dynamic solutions.

  • Work in partnership with all senior MediaCom leads on the Client business to develop communications solutions that deliver Client business goals
  • Responsible for the strategic foundation for all Client plans. Understand and execute strategic contributions throughout the MediaCom process from insights to strategy, strategy briefing to planning, plans to activations, activations to measurement, measurement to performance assessments, and assessments to action plans
  • Mine insights to develop target definition, consumer journey, brand purpose work. Build on the Consumer Journey to craft strategically sound content strategies and related measurement plans Provide thought leadership and seek out inspiration from the outside world, to enhance the strategic planning capabilities of the wider account team
  • Monitor and ensure the integration of strategy throughout the delivery process; demonstrate the ability to take action (or engage with others to do so) to modify/course-correct as needed to ensure the integrity of the plan and deliverables
  • Using personal experience as well as global best practices, cases and learning, define a strategic standard for success/excellence for Client business. Align with Client lead to develop a learning plan to cascade and train all key Client-side functional leaders, team directors, and staff
  • Lead Integrated Agency Team (IAT) initiatives, curate inspiring think shops with cross function brand marketing team
  • Fluency and agility to quickly develop communications strategies that provide clear and actionable objectives and channel roles/deliverables. Lead, manage, and inspire strategy staff
  • About yourself / Requirements:

  • Comfortable, confident and assertive working with senior global clients and agency partners; communicate with authority and gravitas in writing, in speech and in person. Able to respectfully challenge and motivate the client with credibility
  • Previous work experience in strategic role in marketing/communication fields to ensure a more holistic application of strategy (e.g. not just in media planning). Prior experience in advertising, digital and/or direct marketing desired
  • Genuinely curious and interested; ask the right questions, show a passion for understanding our clients’ ambitions, audiences, businesses and brands
  • Highly collaborative with internal teams, external partners, and clients across multiple disciplines including (but not limited to) brand planning, comms, research and insight, media strategy, and CRM; a welcome, valued presence on every call/in every meeting
  • Inspire the team to continually find ways to improve and see both accomplishments and opportunities in a fast-moving environment
  • Highly confident and skilled at applying relevant planning tools and resources e.g. TGI, Touchpoints, WARC, GWI, Google Analytics
  • Ambitious & motivated, willing to take proactive ownership of high-profile projects and tackle significant client challenges
  • Organized and structured, with strong attention to detail; an effective, efficient working style. Culturally agile to work with a diverse range of skills and backgrounds around the world.
  • 8+ years previous senior level marketing experience from a full-service advertising, digital creative agency or in-house creative department; at least 5+ solid experience working in a strategic capacity with heavy channel/media integration and interaction
  • Prior experience in Strategy or Insight roles with a proven record of gathering data for insights and generating strategic frameworks
  • A passion (and an eye) for good creative work
  • A constant interest in culture and marketing trends
  • Strong influential skills, confidence in client meetings and a proven ability to sell (not just craft) strategies
  • An understanding of (digital) media planning and how data can power creative executions
  • Working knowledge of Strategy tools (YouGov, Warc, Insights Finder, Mintel, etc..)
  • Solid knowledge and experience in applying strategy to channel marketing
