Job Description

The senior manager of Global Business Development, AEC, leads a team of Business Development Executives responsible for fuelling growth with the company’s largest, enterprise customers and scaling growth with the ecosystems of our customers. This leadership role requires a knowledgeable, inspirational, strategic leader who can guide, inspire and drive execution of the global business development mission: fuelling and scaling growth by influencing named accounts, governments, owners, industries, and associations so that Autodesk is their favourite company, and their ecosystem’s favourite company, to drive better outcomes for their businesses and the world. In this leadership role, the manager for Global Business Development is responsible for the execution of the global business development strategy, priorities, and tactics within “fuel growth”, “scale growth” and “innovation”. The manager of Global Business Development is attracting, developing, and retaining talent, and drives continuous progress, realizing world-class business development.


Drive execution of Global Business Development mission and priorities

  • Co-develop and execute global business development strategies driving growth for Autodesk
  • Drive priorities within “fuel growth”, “scale growth” and “innovation”, enabling team members to:
    • Influence customer business initiatives and influence our customers’ decision-makers through actionable thought leadership
    • Develop and execute ecosystem strategic programs at customers, owners, governments, industries, and associations
    • Develop and execute new growth opportunities for Autodesk
  • Inspire, support, guide and coach team members on strategic growth opportunities
  • Lead and oversee special, cross-functional projects: these projects include key objectives and business initiatives that impact the overall success of Global Business Development and the company
  • Amplify and propel the Global Business Development mission within the team and with cross functional teams

Drive continuous progress, contributing to world-class business development

  • Co-develop and execute strategies focused on world-class business development
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset, continuously looking for ways to make things better for the team, Autodesk, and our customers
  • Can research novel ideas: can research ideas generated in conversation and crystalize into a point of view or summarize alternatives

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Named Account Sales Teams & Territory Sales Teams to ensure effective collaboration
  • Collaborate with leaders in other organizations across Autodesk, including Customer Success, Technical Solutions, Business Strategy, Product Development, Worldwide Marketing, Government Affairs, and Digital Platform & Experience to strengthen alignment and influence decisions
  • Leverage knowledge of industry and customer needs to positively influence platform development and product development

Minimum qualifications

Proven leadership skills

  • A high impact leader who can effectively manage and empower his/her team to drive growth from strategic initiatives and programs
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading/managing teams with a demonstrable track record of achieving team outcomes or exceeding goals
  • Leadership experience in a sales environment is a plus, but excellent team leadership skills have the highest priority
  • An inspirational, empathic leader with excellent people management skills: inspire, empower, guide, lead, innovate, prioritize, care, support, develop, execute, set expectations, follow-through, coach, provide feedback, challenge status quo, own the change
  • A creative and proactive approach to conflict resolution and problem-solving, mentoring, coaching, recognition, and performance management
  • Able to lead a global team

  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills, and a proficient PowerPoint user
  • Exceptional organizational skills and able to manage conversations, synthesizing multiple points of view, and aligning on direction all in an impartial and professional way

University degree (or you have a good story, advanced degree is a plus)

Can lead, drive, and oversee, cross-functional projects or initiatives

Gets energy from developing, deploying, and following through initiatives for world-class performance

Have a strong work ethic, a commitment to clear outcomes, work in teams and an ability to learn quickly

5 years or more sales experience in a technology company is a plus

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business initiatives
