Job summary
The AWS Marketing organization is looking for a Head of Telco Content Marketing to own the messaging and content strategy for the Telco Industry Business Unit (IBU). The telecom industry is at a pivotal point with the acceleration of 5G capabilities and the adoption of cloud native technologies acting as a catalyst for the transformation of the traditional telco models and the emergence of new innovative services. This role provides an exciting opportunity to architect a content and messaging framework that will have a significant impact for AWS and the telecom industry worldwide at large.

The Head of Telco Content Marketing will lead the content strategy for the Telco IBU and work with a cross-functional team to define, develop and deliver the telco industry marketing content. The role holder will own the editorial/content calendar, working closely with cross-functional product, and segment specialists to ensure a cohesive go-to-market approach. The role holder will be responsible for writing content, providing editorial reviews and managing third party content sponsorships, creating consistency across all outbound content. Developing relationships with teams across the global organization to ensure our content continually raises the bar and aligns with product and industry updates will be key to the success of this role. This role will work closely with brand, product, business development, solutions architects and partner management to craft the AWS Telecom narrative and to design the blueprint for how AWS shows up across AWS owned and external channels the AWS website, blogs, social media, demand generation content, ebooks, events, etc.

The ideal candidate is a trend spotter in the telecom and cloud technology space, with a thumb on the pulse of what matters in telecom, and is able to distill telco and technical insights into compelling value proposition and strategic frameworks. This candidate has excellent writing, editing, project management, and communication skills with the ability to balance the broader landscape and hands-on tasks. Your critical eye insists on the highest standards for all outbound communications, including social media, third party content, events, etc. Your background in Journalism, Telecoms and/or Technology enables you to narrate industry and technical content, and create connections with customers to tell dynamic stories. You have a keen understanding of the customer journey and a portfolio of owned content across various channels. You’re able to own content projects from start to finish, understanding trade-offs while mitigating risks and measuring impact.

Key job responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Define, develop and deliver the AWS Telecom Content Strategy including business unit messaging and value proposition, also providing oversight for the creation of market segment customized versions of the messaging.
• Create and maintain the industry editorial calendar, working across Telco Marketing, Campaigns and Product teams to build out a comprehensive content schedule.
• Develop the AWS Telecom website strategy, own the site refresh and provide regular content updates. Track website traffic and provide regular reporting on web activity, using traffic activity to inform web and other content.
• Write and edit content for: internal and external blogs, organic social media, email nurture campaigns, thought leadership content, third party article features, e-books, presentations, videos, and the website.
• Deep dive and understand audience pain points to create insightful, action-driving content.
• Leverage data and insights from business teams to inform messaging and strategy.
• Monitor content performance through channel analytics, using data to evolve the customer experience by providing timely and relevant content that resonates with our audiences.
• Partner with product marketing team to develop a product framework, to embed product content into industry content.
• Partner with regional marketing teams to develop custom nurture campaigns, address regional telecom hot topics.
• Develop unique, engaging, solution-oriented content and campaigns that will transform our go-to-market approach, while maintaining brand and product standards, voice, and style.
• Explore new and emerging communication channels and content formats.
• Develop content intake and review processes to streamline content submissions and requests.
• Work through detailed processes to gain approval from stakeholders, and legal, while helping the team to move quickly and complete projects in a timely manner.
• Develop a system to archive content, making it searchable for our worldwide community of marketers and sellers.

About the team
The role holder will work in a global marketing team that is dedicated to the Telecom Industry Business Unit together with field, partner, campaign, and digital marketing and additional support from dedicated PR and Analyst Relations teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years of content experience in B2B marketing, product marketing, content marketing, journalism, management consulting, marketing communications, or product management within the Telecom or Technology industries.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, marketing, business, technology, and/or relevant field of study such as information technology and/or cloud computing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in content development in a B2B environment across multiple channels
• MBA or Master’s degree in relevant field or additional relevant experience
• 3+ years experience leading and managing high performing teams
• Ability to think strategically while being hands-on, organized, and detail-oriented
• Strong project management, creative thinking, and analytical skills
• Experience using data and metrics tracking and reporting to inform content creation
• Able to thrive in a fast pace, agile environment, balancing strategy and execution as needed
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven success delivering measurable marketing results Understanding of cloud computing technology
• Familiarity with the B2B sales cycle and experience creating the type of content needed to nurture leads, drive adoption, and accelerate growth
• Experience working in a creative writing-focused role
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders at various levels and in different locales, with the ability to drive alignment
