Job description: Position SummaryPosition Summary: Associate Faculty provides an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing experience of their profession in our classrooms, laboratories, and studios. The college has been recognized nationally for its cost, return on investment, and high success rate; providing over 90 general and technical education programs leading to a variety of workforce certificates and associate degrees. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:Teaches assigned courses to enrolled students and manages a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or laboratory environmentDevelops, prepares and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses and plans for students’ educational and social needsCollaborates with other faculty and staff in assessment of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the instructional program to help promote a culture of continuous improvementMaintains student records, statistics, and/or other pertinent information as required by the college and the departmentResolves issues relevant to area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the Dean of Business and Technology.Performs other related duties as assignedGeneral Expectations: Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of research-based adult learning principles
Knowledge of trends, developments, and new technologies affecting education
Knowledge of developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and instructional approaches
Skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students’ needs and progress
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment
Ability to analyze problems, identifies solutions, and takes appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the publicWork Environment & Physical RequirementsWork Environment: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in a typical classroom or laboratory setting with appropriate climate controls.
