Climate Change Specialist Consultant

Your Team responsibilities

As the leading provider of Environmental, Social and Governance Research, Ratings and Indexes, we continue to grow our footprint with the world’s largest asset managers, banks, hedge funds, pension funds, wealth managers and corporations. Central to our clients’ focus on ESG issues is the impact Climate Change will have on their investment portfolios from both a risk and opportunity perspective under different climate scenarios. We are seeking to expand our client-facing team with a commercially minded individual who will serve as a technical Climate Solutions Specialist to prospective and existing clients in the EMEA region. The Climate Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert on both MSCI’s Climate Value-at-Risk (Climate VaR) and the flagship Implied Temperature Rise (ITR) model. The individual will be an integral part of the business development team and work in partnership with our regional relationship managers providing climate expertise and insight in client discussions across the EMEA region. This role can be located at any one of MSCI’s European office locations with a preference for London.

Your key responsibilities

  • Advance the roll out and adoption of MSCI’s climate solution offering in the EMEA region amongst institutional investors, wealth managers and banks.
  • In partnership with the EMEA ESG Client Coverage organization, develop a go-to-market strategy for MSCI’s climate solution offering.
  • Stay abreast of the most important climate regulations at EU and UK-level to provide consultative insights during client meetings.
  • Help clients interpret enterprise and portfolio-level results from MSCI’s forward-looking climate scenario models, as for example Climate VaR or the ITR metric.
  • Support MSCI’s clients with the implementation of net zero targets.
  • Communicate market feedback to our Product Management team to help improve, enhance, and customize our Climate Value-at-Risk offering.
  • Support the ESG Product team with specific market analysis, i.e., competitor and use case studies.
  • Provide sales enablement tools on MSCI’s Climate Solutions to the ESG Client Coverage organization.
  • Support and speak at MSCI webinars related to climate topics.
  • Gather climate-related market intelligence and develop new segment climate solution selling pitches.
  • Gather and share industry trends and competitive intelligence about Climate Scenario Analysis to senior management.
  • Grow network and attend relevant industry events.
  • Define individual innovation goals to help MSCI advance its climate solution offering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional work experience
  • Background in ESG/Sustainability/Climate Change from a practitioner, academic or policy perspective
  • Financial Services experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required (MA or CFA designation a plus) or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to travel
