Job summary
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced Solutions Architect who will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for helping customers succeed by adopting and building on EC2 Graviton instances. As an EC2 Graviton Solutions Architect (SA), you will partner closely with the engineering, business development, and technical field teams to drive the enablement and adoption of AWS Graviton based EC2 instances. The EC2 Graviton SA will develop white papers, blogs, reference architectures, and presentations to enable customers and partners to understand and leverage the value of EC2 Graviton instances.
The EC2 Graviton SA will also help drive enablement initiatives to continually develop the best technical field teams in the industry. As a Solutions Architect for AWS Graviton you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to redefine how customers create and consume cloud services at a scale not seen before. As a technical expert in the go-to-market specialist team, you’ll be at the tip of the spear for technology thought leadership and implementation with major customers across a broad array of EC2 Engagements.
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a deep understanding of cloud, use cases, architectures, workflow and ecosystem. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical to a Solutions Architect. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges.
Graviton-based instances provide the best price performance for workloads in Amazon EC2. Graviton-based instances support a wide range of general purpose, burstable, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and accelerated computing workloads including application servers, microservices, high-performance computing (HPC), CPU-based machine learning (ML) inference, video encoding, electronic design automation, gaming, open-source databases, and in-memory caches. Thousands of customers, including Epic Games, DIRECTV, Intuit, Lyft, and Formula 1 are running production workloads on Graviton-based instances with significant performance gains and cost savings.
Listed role is posted for New York, NY but we are open to candidates based near an AWS office location in Seattle, WA, Arlington, VA, and San Francisco Bay Area.
Key job responsibilities
- Engage directly with customers and partners to provide them with technical advocacy as they build on AWS. Ensure that they are spending as little time and money as possible doing so.
- Create plans, in conjunction with other members of customer and partner account teams, to define how you will help your customers with their cloud needs
- Continuously build personal expertise across a wide range of AWS services and reference architectures while providing thought leadership to customers and partners
- Share your technical knowledge broadly by participating in one-to-few and one-to-many sessions with larger groups of customers and partners.
- Work with other teams at AWS (e.g. marketing, training, APN) to contribute to the creation of content that can be delivered to the broader community at scale (e.g. online videos, and other digital content)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications or infrastructures
- 8+ years within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
- Breadth of expertise in private and public cloud computing (i.e. AWS platform) technologies and architectural best practices.
- Technical acumen, including the ability to understand the customer IT landscape, identify opportunities and overcome any technical obstacles, ultimately influencing the adoption of AWS platform in conjunction with business requirements.
- Ability to interact with senior leadership (e.g. CxO’s, IT Directors) within a customer or partner organization.
- Leadership capabilities, having the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse set of customers or partners, across multiple disciplines.
- Presentation and written communication skills; high degree of comfort with technical and Executive audiences.
- Travel to client locations as needed. Estimated 30% travel requirement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical degree; Computer Science or Math degree desired
- 5+ years of experience in technology/software sales, pre-sales, or consulting
- One or more AWS certifications, e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate
- Ownership and bias for action; self-starter with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and follow-through on projects
- Proven ability to influence and lead new technology adoption with enterprise customers.
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Demonstrated thought leadership through publications and public speaking
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- Experience designing/operating solutions built on AWS
