Job summary
Would you like to help the world’s largest, most creative companies solve their biggest challenges? As the Sr. Solutions Architect for WW Public Sector Solutions within the Solutions & GTM Programs Group (SGP), you’ll help define and lead execution of the technical and thought leadership deliverables that will help move the needle for solutions for worldwide customers in Public Sector segment verticals including Government, Defense & Intelligence, Space & Satellite, Education, Public Health and Non-Profits. You’ll partner with the Customer Segments solutions technical leader, the Public Sectors solutions team, and other Public Sectors stakeholders across AWS in identifying and prioritizing customer use cases for solutions, and develop elegant reference architectures and solutions that leverage the AWS cloud platform and address the customer business need.
You’ll have the depth and influence in Public Sector technology domain, and you’ll be a hands-on, leading by example. You’ll have the opportunity to shape and deliver on a solution strategy to build mind share, accelerate customer adoption, and drive broad usage of AWS services in the Public Sector, defining a set of solutions to exert influence on the market and working with the team to execute on that plan. Deliverables will include reference architectures, solutions briefs, white papers, blog posts, sample code, and webinars. You will be technical thought leader as well, representing AWS at events and in front of customers and partners. You’ll work closely with field sales teams and specialists to support solution opportunities, as well as help develop solution competence and capability within the technical teams across the global field community in Customer Segments.
Key job responsibilities
As the Sr. Solutions Architect for WW Public Sector Solutions, you will:
• Develop technical solutions strategies and plans for Public Sector solutions. You will be a key technical contributor to meeting revenue and performance goals for our Public Sector solutions
• Engage customers, account teams, public sectors SAs, and other technical Field members to develop/validate customer solution needs
• Be a key technical contributor to Public Sector solution needs prioritization. Validate technical feasibility of solution responses
• Drive development of ‘well-architected’ solution guidance for all priority customer use cases
• Drive development of technical GTM assets to support the technical field in Public Sector solution opportunities
• Be a key technical contributor to the solution PRFAQs and development process, including developing ‘well-architected’ reference designs and sizing
• Enable and train Public Sector technical field teams on solutions. Drive ongoing awareness, adoption, use, and increase solution maturity in the technical field
• Proactively engage customers, account SAs to win solution POCs/POVs at early lighthouse customers, and develop solution references. Provide ongoing reactive support on solution opportunities as required
• Engage with influencers, analysts, media to educate them on the AWS solutions story in Customer Segments. Speak at the Tier 1, Tier 2 events, as required.
• Represents AWS at consortia/standards/regulatory bodies to identify needs and influence solution standards
• Responsible for closed loop feedback to the service teams. Influence AWS services/roadmap based on solution needs and learnings

About the team
The Solutions & GTM Programs Group (SGP) team’s charter is to develop easy-to-use, repeatable, scalable solutions and go-to-market programs. We leverage our domain expertise to work backwards from the needs of buyers and builders, and we anticipate and invent on their behalf. Solutions integrate AWS services, capabilities, and partners, and they’re purpose-built to address priority customer use cases and the innovation, modernization, and transformational business outcomes customers seek. When using our solutions and programs, customers achieve outcomes measurably faster, with lower effort and risk.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications or infrastructures
- 8+ years within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
Candidates should have technical knowledge of public sector and general enterprise IT, including database systems, tiered storage architectures, server and desktop virtualization, data center operations, network security, etc., with the ability to go deep on technical aspects to understand current and future customer needs and present AWS technical benefits. The right person will be highly technical and analytical, and will be capable of understanding the complexities of large, global IT environments. You’ll have excellent presentation skills, including formal presentations, whiteboarding, and large and small group presentations, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations, including strategic partners and ISVs. The right candidate will be highly technical and analytical and possess significant software design and development and/or cloud implementation/consulting experience in relevant markets.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• 5+ years in senior technical customer facing roles in the Public Sector
• Practical experience designing and implementing solutions at scale
• Technical knowledge of public sector and general enterprise IT including: global infrastructure, tiered application architectures, data center operations, software license management, enterprise systems, high-scale data movement, storage and analytics techniques, and digital customer experiences
• Experience with systems and applications and technology provider landscape in public sector with ability to go deep and wide on relevant technologies key to the public sector
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations, with customers, system integrators, and ISVs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Technical Computer Science background, and/or Engineering/Math background
• AWS SA Professional Certification
• International Public Sector experience and knowledge
• Verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as leadership skills.
• Passion for cloud technologies; understanding of public and hybrid cloud platforms
• Business and financial acumen and negotiation skills
• Communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple teams
The base pay range for this position in Colorado is $153,550-$207,745/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
