Job description: Main purpose of job:The British Embassy Santiago is pleased to offer a six-month internship, running from 1st of July 2025 through 31st of December 2025. The internship’s successful candidate will have the opportunity to work primarily with the Climate and Nature team. Additionally, through the cross-cutting nature of the work, the candidate will work with other Embassy teams such as: Political, Communications, Department of Business and Trade, and Corporate Services.The intern will support the Climate and Nature team on topics such as: Nationally Determined Commitments (NDCs), biodiversity, green finance, natural capital, carbon/biodiversity instruments, ocean conservation, offshore wind, energy transition, critical minerals, and engagement across private, public and non-profit sectors. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to contribute to greening the Embassy’s operations, logistics and administrative processes.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about foreign policy and international relations, international trade policy, and how the UK and Chile work together to solve global problems such as climate change and biodiversity loss. Our interns play an important role in supporting our daily work and have an opportunity to make a real impact through the projects they are work on.Roles and responsibilities:– Support implementation of the British Embassy’s political and diplomatic engagement focused on nature and climate including maintaining and updating our political stakeholder database; updating the Embassy’s climate and nature Masterplan; arranging, attending and taking minutes in external meetings; attending and contributing to Embassy working groups; agenda management; update and maintain section resources and briefings.
– Assist with research focused on nature and climate: researching information and contacts (UK and Chilean) in priority areas, including political and legislative developments.
– Support project and event management logistics, helping deliver exciting and impactful events (King’s Birthday Party, programmes for visiting UK officials and ministers, events focused on Climate and Nature, and critical minerals), as well as other Embassy and UK strategic priorities, including contact with suppliers and venues, and updating and maintaining briefing materials and guest lists and sending out invites.
– Support the Communications Team work, including contributing to the production of social media content and delivery of the Embassy’s communications strategy.
– Assist with information management and record keeping on procurement, finance and Human Resources.
– Assist in the updating of current databases and actively contribute to the strengthening of relationships with stakeholders and suppliers. Researching for new suppliers and products to improve daily operations.
