Job DescriptionGeneral Accountant – Part Time, Seasonal (ending September 30th)At Fairmont Waterfront our financial operations thrive with the commitment of colleagues who model our values. Apply your passion for numbers as General Accountant, where your exacting standards will ensure accuracy in support of your team and hotel.What you will be doing:
- Compiles, codes and posts invoices for all departments working in a centralized Accounts Payable environment
- Generates cheques and wire payments for all vendors and expense accounts
- Upload virtual credit card payment batches weekly
- Ensure all expenses are recorded on a timely basis
- Responds to vendor’s queries on payments as required
- Works with the purchasing system, Birch Street to facilitate processing of all invoices ensuring all supporting documentation is present
- Reimburse approved petty cash claims on a timely basis
- Perform General Cashier due backs daily to other colleagues
- Balancing cash and preparing daily cash journal
- Completing month end duties for cash
- Assists in month end preparation and journal entries
- Assists in internal standards audits
- Handles guests and team members queries as required
QualificationsYour experience and skills include:
- Candidate must have 1-2 years experience in accounts payable required, and/or cash preferred
- Enrolled in a recognized accounting program (CPA) preferred
- Have high level of proficiency Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Email and other Microsoft PC based applications
- Knowledge of Financial Accounting Systems (Sun & Cora Systems), Birch Street, Evention, Opera, Silverware would be an asset
- Fairmont Property Manager (Opera preferred)
- Ability to work efficiently in a team based environment
- Strong team player with eye to details
- Must possess excellent communication and guest service skills
- Self motivated with excellent organizational skills, proven initiative and ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
