Depending on the department to which an individual is assigned, the work may involve the collection of various fees and assessment liens.Essential FunctionsWork may entail frequent personal and/or telephone public contact in handling fee and/or lien collections and routine clerical duties. An employee may also calculate miscellaneous charges involved in litigating delinquent accounts and any adjustments to accounts based on new information provided by the customer, City code, or review of documents (such as Certificate of Occupancy, demolition permits, park permits, and private hauler contracts) research property ownership by using information provided by the Miami-Dade County Courthouse or Water Department type correspondence to be sent from the delinquent section (such correspondence may include legal documents to be recorded in official records of the County); verify fee calculations and validate cash collection at end of shift with supporting documentation; and perform other related work, as required. Ability to operate a computer terminal and/or point of sale system, 10 Key adding machines, cash registers, and/or other common office equipment is required.Minimum RequirementsHigh school diploma or its equivalent with six (6) months general clerical or cashiering experience.OREquivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of the required experience.**Depending on the area of assignment a valid driver’s license may be required. If so, a Valid Driver’s License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver’s License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources and must be maintained valid throughout employment.SPECIAL NOTE:Employees in this classification will be required to work various shifts, to include nights, holidays and weekends.Candidates will be subject to a Level II background screening.Documentation RequirementsPLEASE READ CAREFULLY.Applicants, including City of Miami employees, must upload and submit attached copies of the following documents with the employment application.
