Job summary
We believe reading is essential for a healthy society; our mission is to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get more out of reading. We are looking for a creative, data-driven, and results-oriented Sr. Marketing Manager to support the demand and growth of the Japan Books business. You will help develop and execute the marketing strategy for key promotional campaigns and paid marketing, and will be responsible for the end-to-end Go To Market (GTM) strategy for high-visibility product launches and feature releases. You will also compile and analyze traffic and other web metrics, and report on performance to our senior management teams.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of handling multiple projects, and work well across multiple teams including Product, Legal, Supply Chain, PR and external vendors and agencies, as needed. You will have first-class written and verbal communication skills, and be comfortable negotiating with key business partners and global Amazon teams to gain alignment on marketing plans and ultimately manage all aspects of project execution.

General Responsibilities:

  • Help grow our Print and eBook programs, including Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading, through marketing initiatives
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to acquire, retain and engage customers
  • Provide strategic marketing inputs into product roadmaps
  • Own customer touch points such as storefront, emails, and search
  • Define and deliver analytics, metrics, and reporting for marketing initiatives working closely with the Business Intelligence team
  • Support and continually improve the end-to-end on-site customer experience

Key job responsibilities
This role is responsible for marketing strategy and operations for the total JP Books business, including Kindle Content and Print Books and across Manga and non-Manga. The successful candidate will own developing the onsite & paid marketing strategy, and social engagement & kindle brand strategy for JP Books programs and services, and ensure execution against that strategy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA; +7 years of experience in developing and executing high-performing marketing campaigns working across large cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Experience in broad areas of marketing at all levels i.e. digital and offline, ATL and BTL, full funnel marketing (awareness, consideration, conversion, retention)
  • Proven analytic capabilities with a data driven focus
  • Excellent communicator both verbally and written (Japanese and English) with an ability to influence and communicate with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive)
  • Track record of driving adoption of new ideas and concepts, and pioneering new approaches within your team or company
  • Extreme attention to detail with relentlessly high standards and a willingness to roll up your sleeves

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or advanced business degree
  • Experience working in a global environment
  • Familiarity with SQL, databases, and web metrics
  • Experience with digital media or content businesses
