What are the performance goals over the next 90 days you will work towards completing?

First 30 days: Work with the APJ Marketing Leadership team to align on goals, expectations and OKRs in line with the overall business plan. Start forging stakeholder relationships, and maintain a relentlessly external perspective. Understand what the market needs and what it will respond to.

Next 30-60 days: Build your mid- and long-term plan and vision for Portfolio Marketing based on objective data and best practices. Socialize it and ensure broad buy-in, and adapt based on input. Finally, set expectations for the Portfolio Marketing Team, map out any changes required, and establish measurement and reporting.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

You will be expected to:

• Lead a team of Portfolio Marketers to localize solution/services messaging, value propositions and provide competitive and market intelligence for the APJ market.
• Know the customer. Understand VMware’s customers and be able to evangelize how our Cross-Cloud services can help them solve complex problems. As such, public speaking, the ability to engage with press and analysts, and writing customer facing materials are key skills.
• Develop APJ regional positioning and messaging that resonate with customers, communicating services features/capabilities in terms and categories that customers understand.
• Launch Cross-Cloud services across the APJ market working with the global BU/BG Product Marketing teams.
• Work with sales to understand and support the sales cycle such as buyer personas, sales motions and adoption barriers. Work with a cross functional team(s) to streamline the sales cycle.
• Localize and, if necessary, create sales enablement materials that help sales reps and partners effectively position and sell our products against the competition.
• Support the broader field marketing, Integrated Marketing and Comms team to ensure messaging and content adoption across multiple marketing & GTM channels and programs (events, VBC, field, partners, digital, alliances, sales, channel partners, web, social media etc.)

What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
The hiring manager for this role is Paula Parkes, VP of APJ Marketing. She has been a recognized leader in the IT industry for many years. She believes leadership is not defined by title and encourages his team members to lead by example and to VMware EPIC2 values. She drives an open and transparent team culture – bringing your ideas & innovation to collaborate and to solve any challenges.

The team is distributed across the 5 regions across APJ, and most of the team members work remotely with everyone driving dynamic and open culture at work and encourages to learn from others, teach others, and grow along with others having the initiative to get things moving and be collaborative and courteous.

Where is the role located?
The preferred location for the role is in Sydney or Singapore, and is open to be located remotely and will not be assigned to a fixed office location. VMware has a policy to empower employees to work from wherever they feel most productive and healthy be at home, a VMware office or coffee shop.
