Job summary
Data Center Community (DCC) is looking for a Herndon-based senior content strategist to develop process documentation as well as design and implement content management systems. This includes gathering customer requirements, understanding the business needs, and designing solutions that meet them.
The ideal candidate shows serious obsession for customers. They have broad experience working on global, cross-functional content programs, and they have team leadership, program management, or project management experience. This person also has excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated leadership in delivering business results while working in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment. They have strong data analytics skills, and are comfortable working with Excel to identify trends and insights.

DCC is responsible for building and maintaining the electrical plants, cooling plants, and physical spaces that support Amazon’s servers. The technical documentation team plays a vital role in keeping data centers up and running by making sure the methods and procedures that engineers and technicians follow are clearly and completely described and steps are easy to follow.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and run comprehensive program plans for long term programs and drive execution according to the plans.
* Gain support for recommended programs using strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
* Collaborate with customers at all levels to gather requirements and feedback, define objectives and deliver results.
* Present and lead conversations about projects, issues, solutions, and strategy to leadership and stakeholders.
Prioritize effectively and communicate clearly across all levels of the organization.
Partner with your program sponsors to define program strategy and key performance indicators.
Find and analyze large sets of data and create actionable insights that help content intake teams make customer-focused decisions.
* Deploy metrics to track progress against program metrics, report monthly on progress and define annual goals.
* Build and maintain documentation deliverables, dashboards and communication materials for portfolio programs.
Travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or related field
* A minimum of five years in a technical writing role * Experience writing and editing technical documentation for an engineering community
Experience interviewing experts, such as mechanics, electricians, or engineers, to elicit essential content

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in a data center, networking, or manufacturing environment
* Experience writing documentation related to infrastructure, mechanical, or electrical systems
* Experience working with remote teams and an international audience
* Strong critical thinking skills
* Strong interpersonal communication skills
Experience owning and implementing programs related to online content strategy, content delivery tools, content taxonomy and classification, and/or the user experience with content.
* Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
