Job Description

The Infrastructure group brings the Digital Workplace to life for the Kimberly-Clark organization. This group seeks out new technologies on the horizon and how to leverage them to support the goals of the organization, manages the infrastructure and creates a digital, connected workplace for employees. As part of the Digital Workplace team, the Office 365 & Messaging Architect is accountable for the strategy and architecture of productivity, communication and collaboration capabilities including technical and application expertise, policy development and conflict resolution. Areas of specialty will include EXO, SPO, M365 Apps, and Enterprise Social Media technologies like Yammer. Influences and directs the K-C culture to one that values these technologies taking the lead in driving maximum adoption of the capabilities across the enterprise. Consults on and drives the capability and technology roadmaps by evaluating and prototyping new customer and industry solutions. Provides technological thought leadership and influences the industry. Shares knowledge with colleagues both formally and informally to provide insight in areas of expertise and encourages collaboration and mentoring relationships.

Scope/Categories:

Key Interfaces: DTS Infrastructure architects and solution engineers, DTS Executive Committee, DTS Leadership, Global and Regional Leaders, External research agencies and vendors, External technology influence boards. Travel may include 5-10% of worktime.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of systems architecture, design and technical specifications, ensuring compatibility with existing enterprise solutions technical stack and overall architecture.
  • Carries out full impact analysis of new software/features releases and recommends upgrade plans. Reviews upgrades/patches from system software suppliers and identifies those which merit action.
  • Creates technical specifications for first of a kind technical solutions to enhance or customize software and tailors system software to ensure maximum efficiency. Prepares software implementation procedures with fall back contingency plans. Ensures operational viability (effectiveness) of software solutions to be deployed.
  • Ensure that the risks associated with the installation or decommissioning are understood and that measures to reduce them are adopted where appropriate. Champion initial analysis phases and verify non-negative impact tests scope provided by engineering team.
  • Investigates installations not achieving design aim or business requirement and makes recommendations for remedial action. Contributes to critical level incident/problems resolution, may lead incident control board as a back up to Service Delivery manager.
  • Selects, in consultation with additional senior management as required, appropriate design standards, methods and tools and ensures they are applied effectively.
  • Advises system development teams on the evaluation and impact analysis of major design options.
  • Plays a major technical role in the assessment and selection of software solutions.
  • Provides needed coaching to junior team members and oversees outsourced partner in the delivery of projects and day-to-day activities.
  • Responsible for information flow to and from customer interface during project design/construction phases.
  • Responsible for one or more installation projects or/and operational Agile board stories, providing effective team leadership.

Key Qualifications and Experiences:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 or more years of applied experience with demonstrated skills described in the Position Profile section.
  • Demonstrated experience in Unified Cloud computing environments with knowledge and expertise on application hosting approaches which includes, private cloud, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
  • Experience in leading projects and working in an Agile project environment.
  • Expertise with global design and implementation of Microsoft Office 365 products and services.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge with Microsoft AD and security solutions, e.g. Exchange Online Protection, Okta, identity management tools, data loss prevention tools and federated authentication solutions.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of two or more software platforms, and awareness of further configurations. Has a thorough understanding of the system interfaces. Has a good understanding of the organization’s business processes and their degree of dependence on information systems.
  • Has knowledge in network routing, switching, segmentation, firewalls, voice and/or video components in an operational office environment. Must understand technology to connect and collaborate across the global organization.
  • Has recognized expertise in the Digital Workplace technologies, current trends and developments, the most commonly available products, and related to Digital Workplace applications within business environment. Has a sound, broad knowledge of IT and an excellent understanding of how the technical specialism relates to other areas of IT and how it impacts on other business functions. Can influence at all levels of the organization. Has leadership skills and can manage a team of technical SMEs.
  • Has the knowledge and understanding of how to enable and integrate applications platforms. It includes having the ability to automate key functions that support the environment by creating intelligent bots to monitor, accept requests, and take action across multiple platforms and systems. This includes the understanding of cross platform dependencies and the key factors to determine design decisions such as business continuity and system classification.
  • Scripting expertise to automate incident, event triggers and workflow.
  • Shows evidence of analytical ability and attention to detail. Appreciates the importance of commercial constraints. Has a comprehensive knowledge of all stages of systems development, from specification to implementation.
  • Technical expertise with MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, M365 applications, Yammer, Social Media tools.
  • Understanding of ITIL practices, focusing on operational efficiency and improving delivery speed, agility and automation to support rapidly changing business needs. This includes use of data-driven analytics and advanced algorithms, service management practices to systematically remove waste, improve efficiencies, cut costs and delight end users.
  • Has good inter-personal skills. Is well organized and practical, with a logical, analytical approach to problem solving. .
  • Verbal and written fluency in English is mandatory.
