Front Office Batch Support Analyst

We are looking for a batch analyst to join our Front Office Run team in UK to work alongside other application production support analysts. The front office team in UK has two primary functions. Providing local support to our Investment and operational teams as they manage the investment process for our clients and funds across the European geography.
In addition we play a critically important role in setting up the next region (North America) for their business day. The role of the batch analyst is to be front and centre on the monitoring of system jobs, alerts and notifications from our platforms and vendors. Overall we have responsibility, along side our global peers, for the support of systems used to manage over $8 trillion in AUM.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provides primary support and monitoring of batch processes used within the Front Office environment.
  • Monitors production systems for alerts, outages, and system issues. Researches issues and performs root cause analysis to minimize risk. Implements solutions for issues and appropriate development initiatives.
  • Ensures that support requests are resolved within the service level agreements and achieving targeted availability metrics at the enterprise level.
  • Understand and can deliver timely, clear communication and escalation for issues that will have a direct impact on the user experience be it system availability or data quality.
  • Works closely with 3rd party vendors to ensure the timely delivery of start of day processes across multiple applications and asset classes where Vanguard does not direct manage the application infrastructure.
  • Writes and updates production support documentation, policies, and procedures and coaches other teams on uptake and best practice.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes recommendations. Assists in implementing changes.
  • Investigates and develops automation within the aim of reducing manual interaction in the process and to allow growth of capacity to manage additional systems without an uplift in headcount.
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with business partners.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum of three years related work experience, with at least one year of Information Technology experience.
  • Demonstratable experience working in a systems operation of batch management environment.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems preferred.

Future of Work

During the pandemic, we transitioned to a work from home model for the majority of our crew and we continue to interview, hire, and on-board future crew remotely.

As we have developed the path forward, we have taken a thoughtful approach that both maximizes the advantages of working remotely and the many benefits of coming together and collaborating in a shared workspace. When our Crew return to the office, many will work in our hybrid model. A smaller proportion of our crew will operate in the Work from Home work model (for example, field sales crew); or in the Work from Office model (for example, portfolio managers).
