We also partner with the businesses to source high-impact opportunities in line with the firm’s social and sustainability agendas.

Position: VP, Brand Strategy

Reports to: MD, Brand & Messaging Strategy

Location(s): New York, New York

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As the VP, Brand Strategy for Goldman Sachs, you will manage work related to brand strategy, brand architecture, naming, and messaging for both the masterbrand and/or the four revenue divisions (Consumer, Wealth Management, Investment Banking and Global Markets. This role is on a new COE team focused on elevating our Brand and Messaging Strategy work across the firm. In this role, you will craft strategic messaging pillars that will determine the direction and implementation of all marketing activity across the firm, including the refinement of our brand purpose and values. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to a cohesive branding strategy, comprising new visual systems and naming for our products and services across the firm, in order to build a consistent brand globally. You will work with the executive office divisions on value props, benefit statements, and narratives for our priority commercial areas. The role is highly visible and requires an experienced brand marketer who can lead the development of remarkable communications for a remarkable brand.

About Goldman Sachs Marketing:

Led by the firm’s first Chief Marketing Officer, the marketing function at Goldman Sachs is backed by momentum and a broad imperative to unify the discipline, helping to codify a business-critical function seen as core to the firm’s future growth. As such, GS is focused on building out a data-and-technology enabled team of growth marketers, delivering value for the brand and the business. The organization will consist of a number of key, senior-level COE roles in areas such as Brand, Media, and Marketing Strategy, as well as senior marketing leads for each of our revenue divisions. Together, this team will collaborate to build a unified, scalable, and consistent approach to marketing the brand and its offerings. Our mission is to be a demonstrable force multiplier for the businesses we serve.

You will be responsible for high priority marketing strategy projects that may include:

    • Defining and overseeing our brand architecture work
    • Collaboratively managing our purpose and values work
    • Developing an updated and best-in-class messaging strategy across our master brand and divisions
    • Providing strategic recommendations on key firm initiatives such as new product launches, product naming, audience and customer diversification, and other large-scale projects
    • Interfacing regularly with internal and external partners, including strategic agency partners, to ensure that marketing plans support firmwide strategic initiatives and align to GS core values and purpose

CORE COMPETENCIES

Industry Expertise

  • Must have client-side brand marketing leadership experience.
  • Fluency in award-winning brand creativity expressed brilliantly across the digital ecosystem
  • Experience and success in managing super-premium brands is of interest
  • Financial services category experience preferred but not required
  • Combination of B2B and B2C expertise preferred but not required

Functional Expertise

  • 10+ years in marketing, strategy, or planning roles
  • Experience working in marketing strategy, branding, and research and insights
  • Knowledge of brand purpose and aligning values and purpose with commercial objectives
  • Experience working with matrixed global brands and multi-division organizations with separate target audiences for each business unit
  • Experience marketing and messaging to multiple target groups including B2B and B2C
