About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Credit Risk Officer – Operational Excellence
This newly created position is part of the overall Consumer Credit org design model in Corporate Risk. The impact of the position will be to drive required activities to support the consumer credit risk team and control processes.
- Ensuring appropriate control environment is created and supported, including providing leadership on Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) control identification
- Laying the foundation for Operational Excellence including implementing consistent documentation standards for process flows, control maps and systems flows (and leading the charge to document all HCC processes formally) as well as create and implement a change management process
- Creating an inventory of all HCC controls as well as creating and producing a control health monitoring dashboard that will provide feedback on control effectiveness
- Supporting routines and special initiatives aligned to organizational efficiency (i.e. spans & layers)
- Supporting centralized exams, including exam materials and meetings ensuring exam and issue progress
- Supporting process to ensure issues are being self-identified and follow issue management policies and procedures
In this role, you will:
- Advise senior leadership to develop and implement strategies, programs and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges to drive the company credit culture, appetite, and business performance requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or companywide
- Deliver solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking, and coordination of highly complex activities and guidance to others
- Monitor, assess and report on asset quality, portfolio trends and credit policy exception trends
- Approve credit transactions and participate in acquisition due diligence
- Approve and provide credible challenge of line of business credit products, programs, and policies
- Provide vision, direction and expertise to senior leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Interact with internal and external customers
- Collaborate with business for oversight of risk management
- Interact with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics

Required Qualifications:
7+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

- Experience establishing and evaluating operational processes and controls
- Experience with risk programs and processes
- Proven communication skills with the ability to influence, develop, partner with, and maintain collaborative relations at all levels within the organization
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and effectively build relationships within a matrixed environment to influence outcomes
- Results driven approach to work with a demonstrated ability to meet stringent deadlines
- Capable of working under great pressure with equanimity, to manage a considerable volume of information and priorities.
