Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:
- Support development, execution, and tracking of the U.S. Strategy as approved by the SHUSI Board
- Continued development and enhancement of the U.S. strategy as part of the annual planning focusing on key initiatives and business plans
- Formulate governance track progress on key strategic indicators
- Ensuring consistency, alignment, and communication across the global strategy, business lines, and support functions (e.g. risk, finance, HR)
- Provide support to the U.S. CEO and U.S. COO with ad hoc requests and special projects by applying business/data analysis and project/program management skills and collaborating with stakeholders
- Participate in U.S. strategic projects and deliverables partnering with and coordinating across business and support function areas. Ensure that critical projects maintain momentum and focus, and are completed according to deliverable timelines
- Development of materials for regional Board and Management Committees, ensure robust content and perform holistic review for alignment in messaging across committee forums (‘connect the dots’)
- Actively search for ways of creating efficiencies and enhancing controls of current governance and control processes by understanding and adhering to the governance framework and policies, procedures, and relevant regulations
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in context to its day-to-day activities and decisions
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to distill key messaging, themes, and concepts from large amounts of information for different levels of audiences across the organization
- Ability to build deep relationships with various internal stakeholders including senior management, business partners, and support & control functions
- Ability to drive key pieces of work with resourcefulness and intellectual curiosity
- Strong work ethic, highly motivated
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage various initiatives simultaneously
- Capable of working in a dynamic fast-paced trading floor environment with aggressive timelines at times
- Bachelor’s Degree or international equivalent
- 3-5 years of financial industry experience
- Knowledge of banking, capital markets, and wholesale operational processes & controls
- A strong culture, risk, and controls mindset
- Good judgment
- Team player able to work across businesses and multiple stakeholders
- Strong project management experience, able to drive initiatives from planning through execution
- Advanced MS Office skills
