About this role:

The Emerging Healthcare Technologies (EHT) group within Wells Fargo’s Healthcare Corporate and Investment (CIB) vertical is seeking an experienced Vice President to join its team in San Francisco, CA. EHT services clients ranging from start-up to early stages of growth and commercialization. The team focuses its efforts on subsectors such as Biotech/Pharma, Medical Device, Digital Health, Healthcare IT, Pharma Outsourcing, and Diagnostic & Life Sciences Tools. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, building, and growing relationships within the Emerging Healthcare ecosystem and will have frequent interactions with prospects, clients, and key investors to better understand how the EHT platform could meet their business needs. The role has a heavy emphasis on relationship development and management, idea generation, collaboration, and driving platform penetration.

Corporate Banking Relationship Managers are responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with a broad range of corporate clients and delivering the full range of Wells Fargo’s capabilities including Debt & Equity Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Acquisition Finance, Treasury Management and Credit. The ideal candidate should be capable of supporting more senior Relationship Managers while also driving incremental business and developing complex relationships. Further, candidates should show a proven track record of developing internal and external relationships and have relevant corporate or investment banking experience. Life Sciences or Emerging Healthcare sector experience is a plus.

CIB relies on our relationship managers to make well-informed decisions affecting profitability, risk management, and long term portfolio growth; including being able to effectively manage communication with team members at all levels, peers, product partners, senior management and clients. Vice Presidents must be efficient and effective at written and oral communication. Relationship Managers are expected to drive results and culture consistent with the strategic direction of WF, CIB and leadership; develop frequent and collaborative dialogue with partner groups to manage risk; facilitate decision making; and foster a team environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Originate and service a portfolio of strategic clients through proactive business development
  • Drive execution and implementation of new product transactions for early-stage healthcare companies by collaborating and consulting with peers, internal partners and stakeholders to maximize client experience
  • Initiate and maintain strategic dialogue with clients and prospects to deliver the full suite of Wells Fargo products and services including credit, capital markets advisory, treasury management, and foreign exchange
  • Represent the bank in developing and maintaining relationships with early-stage investors
  • Proactively perform market, investor, and company diligence on early-stage healthcare companies
  • Provide support to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions that are large-scale cross-functional or companywide strategies
  • Strictly comply with all regulatory and WF rules, policies, and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Corporate Banking Relationship Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Life Sciences, Emerging Healthcare, or related sector
  • BA/BS degree required
  • Proven track record in business development and/or client management
  • Excellent oral and written communications abilities
  • Self-motivated, dependable and intelligent
  • Candidate must be a top individual contributor, with a strong performance track record
  • Completion of a recognized investment banking or credit training program

Job Expectations

  • Registration for Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
  • Registration for FINRA Series 79 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
  • Registration for FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
