Retirement Business Services (RBS), a division within Schwab Advisor Services, provides trust, custody, trading, and technical services through the Business Trust Division of Charles Schwab Trust Bank, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. and Schwab Retirement Technologies. RBS is growing rapidly by providing retirement plan trust and custody services to Independent Recordkeepers (Recordkeepers), Registered Investment Advisors (Advisors) and Third Party Administrators (TPAs), and leads the industry in servicing retirement plans through intermediary relationships.

The Retirement Business Services (RBS) Conversion Group’s objective is to handle the seamless conversion of over 2,000 employee benefit plans per/year. A strong understanding of the retirement market and the ability to coordinate multiple parties involved within a conversion of retirement plans is paramount to our success. Relationship building plays an important role in the organization to ensure that Schwab Bank remains the preferred choice for new trust and custody business.

What you are good at

The position is responsible for supporting the investment advisors firm onboarding to retirement plans at Charles Schwab Trust Bank. The candidate will review and maintain accurate records of registered investment advisors (RIAs) on retirement plans, process mergers, name changes, and closures, and review documents for acceptance. Be responsible for establishing all data file and reporting needs for the advisors. You will work closely with advisor sales team, and operational teams to successfully transition new advisor firms and support existing clients. The qualified applicant will have exceptional communication skills enabling them to interact with various clients and management levels within and outside our firm.

Responsibilities include:

  • Primary contact for all new plan conversion related activity for the independent record keeper and investment manager relationships for their associated trust and custody accounts
  • Daily correspondence to recordkeepers and/or advisors relating to new business and changes to existing business
  • Review of plan types and specifications to support business exception requests
  • Daily review of Charles Schwab Trust Bank onboarding legal agreements
  • Review of system set ups and databases prior to account setup completion
  • Work with prior custodians, fund companies, investment advisors, and clients to transfer investments.
  • Review of plan types and specifications to support business exception requests
  • Introduce new products and services as well as recommend service enhancements
  • Cultivate positive relationships by leading client expectations by providing ongoing, proactive communication on new account deliverables, issue resolution, and other substantive items
  • Proactively consult and educate clients through knowledge sharing and efficiency training with the objective of promoting client retention and growth
  • Collaborate with various internal operation teams, legal, and relationship managers to deliver timely and accurate information in response to inquiries and/ account setup issues.
  • Meet or exceed established service level standards
  • Be responsible for communicating a professional image of Schwab in all communications
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines within a dynamic environment.

What you have

  • Strong emotional intelligence
  • Previous experience with Salesforce, Recordkeeping, Advisor Portfolio Management, or other software systems related to exchange of data, a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced technical skills, with the ability to use several different applications at one time, including
  • Windows, internet research, and database systems
  • Detail oriented with strong analytic and research skills
  • Strong customer focus, including ability to think in terms of customer experience
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines within a dynamic environment
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of two years financial services experience, ideally with investment advisor firm or Employee benefit plans providing trust/custody or recordkeeping services

[ $49,600.00 – $74,500.00]
