Team Exposure/Scope:
This role will partner closely with a broad range of finance and business leaders in Operations, HR, Technology, and Retail, as well as with research scientists, technical product managers, and software developers in pursuit of an optimized business. This role will create and sustain performance measurements and reporting on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the economics of the business.

Regular collaboration with executives and various business units across Amazon will allow you the opportunity to exhibit your verbal and written communication skills. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to improve and create new measures for business effectiveness, innovate creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools, and identify high priority work/projects to maximize results for key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifies basic control risks, evaluates impact, proposes changes, and implements improvements to remediate gaps
- Delivers weekly/monthly financial close. Uses financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.
- Solid knowledge and experience with SQL and works with a variety of data sources. Identifies incomplete or inaccurate data, identifies root causes of data issues, escalates discrepancies, fixes data where possible or partners to deliver a solution.
- Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
- Identifies and implements solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.
- Work closely with business partners, accounting, and technology teams across transportation to drive process improvement in aircraft finance
- Analyze variances to budget and prepare concise summaries to present to other leaders
- Prepare month-end close reports and partner with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Extract, combine, and summarize data to analyze financial impacts, and effectively communicate key findings to senior leadership to influence strategic business decisions
- Developing metrics and reports to provide controllership to new programs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
- 3+ years of finance experience or a related analytical field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years’ experience performing financial and ad hoc analysis using data reporting tools
- 3+ years’ experience with Excel advanced functions (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)
- 3+ years’ experience working with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- MBA and/or Professional certification (CPA/CFA) + relevant experience
- Advanced experience demonstrating problem solving and root cause analysis
- Highly analytical, detail oriented and strong business sense; proven ability to manage new ideas and creative solutions and demonstrated experience managing such mechanisms to an end result
- Ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment; effective multi-tasking skills are vital
- Demonstrated effective communication and presentation skills working with multiple peer groups and senior levels of management
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g. SQL, Tableau) and other financial systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Cognos), providing solutions based on results of ad hoc analyses to senior management for strategic decision-making
