The Government Accounting Analyst is responsible for driving accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate actual financial reporting and analysis for government projects. In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare/review monthly invoices to the Department of Energy for project expense reimbursements.
  • Calculate and develop support for indirect governmental rate allocations
  • Manage sub-contractor invoices and payments for the project.
  • Lead contact for reporting and analysis of monthly results for project labor cost
  • Manage the labor vouchering process required for the Dept of Energy projects
  • Compile data and create accruals for monthly and annual closings
  • Analyze GE Labor and Variable Work Force Labor within government projects
  • Manage the expense reimbursement accounting for travel and living
  • Ensure compliance required for Dept of Energy projects
  • Research/assist in correction of missing/unapproved labor costs.
  • Assist GE Employees and sub-contractors with Oracle time vouchering and T/L Systems
  • Run Oracle and Tableau Reports for Labor, VWF and T/L detail
  • Identify and implement internal control and process improvements as needed.
  • Assist in performance, preparation and oversight of annual government audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations to management, staff, customers and sub-contractors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in accounting, government reporting or related finance field

  • Able to handle multiple tasks under pressure
  • Detail oriented
  • Experience with governmental indirect rate development under FAR 15 and FAR 31 regulations
  • 3-7 years of external audit experience, or 2-3 years of governmental audit experience
  • Strong financial reporting and data mining skills
