The mission of Controllers is to ensure that the firm meets the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated and public financial institution. As part of the firm’s second line of defense, Controllers provides the critical analysis required while ensuring the internal and external financial information of the firm is accurate. Additionally, Controllers serves an important role in safeguarding the assets of the firm through the independent scrutiny of financial information. Controllers engages regularly with the firm’s regulators and auditors and through its strong culture of control and challenge helps to protect the firm from reputational and other risks.
As a PFMG Controller in our Cohoes, NY office, you will be involved in the financial reporting and monitoring across our Ayco/PFM legal entities. You will develop an in-depth understanding of these entities, including their business strategies, products and associated accounting requirements.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Maintain the books and records for the firm’s subsidiaries
- Participate in month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Participate in year-end audit process including preparation of support for outside auditor
- Calculate payments, research inquiries and forecast costs related to sales compensation
- Process daily cash receipts in Peoplesoft AR and balance activity to general ledger
- Prepare regulatory and statistical returns to regulators and government agencies
- Ensure that control standards are maintained and documented
- Bachelors in accounting or related field
- 1 – 4 years of experience working in accounting or related field preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Excel
- Ability to work independently and as a key member of a team in a fast paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
