The Financial Analyst reports to the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting the annual budget process, developing/maintaining forecast models, completion of quarterly metric reports, and ad hoc analysis surrounding owned and affiliate clinics. The position will work closely with FP&A and Accounting teams along with Operations, IT and Marketing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports the annual budget process utilizing Excel based models
  • Maintains, enhances, and automates short-term and long-term forecast models
  • Prepares monthly re-forecasts utilizing current health plan data and explain updated trends
  • Provides financial support for monthly deliverables to National FP&A
  • Works with senior leadership in Finance as well as Operations
  • Monitors and reports key operational and financial metrics on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Meets aggressive deadlines (monthly close/analysis, monthly forecast, annual budget)
  • Creates/prepares ad-hoc reporting/analyses as necessary
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • Ability to travel locally may be required

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting
  • 1+ years of Finance, Accounting, or related experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines in a hybrid (1-2 days in-office as needed) work environment
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare, Medicare, or health insurance industry experience
  • Detailed knowledge of budget and forecast processes
  • Detailed knowledge of financial statement analytics
  • Proficiency in preparing financial analysis reports (collecting, formatting, analyzing, and explaining information) with limited supervision
  • Ability to analyze clinical and operational data, recognizing variances and trends in utilization
  • Self-motivated, high energy, well-organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
