Senior Financial Analyst (GAAP)

The Senior Financial Analyst, US Surgical position is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Finance professional to join a $900+ million Global Business Unit that is continuing to innovate in Surgical Structural Heart treatments. This position is an integral part of the Surgical Finance team in Irvine, supporting the U.S. Field Sales and Sales Operations teams in analyzing and managing consignment inventory and sales expenses, with a focus financial planning, expense management, and month-end activities. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build strong and trusting business partner relationship and a high level of interest in learning about the Surgical business.

Partner with US Sales and Sales Operations teams to:

  • Develop Annual Operating Plans and monthly forecasts. Ensure cross-functional alignment on assumptions and advise on options to meet targets.
  • Perform month-end close and reporting activities and provide variance analysis and commentary on a timely basis.
  • Analyze consignment inventory activity to manage E&O reserves, synthesize financial results, and assess risks and opportunities for Sales leaders.
  • Effectively manage cost center headcount and expenses to align with annual targets and changing business priorities.
  • Provide financial consultation and analysis to Sales or other functional leaders as needed.
  • Ensure Edwards compliance by applying knowledge of applicable regulations (e.g., Sunshine Act, SOX, GAAP financials, SEC, IRS) to develop explanations for internal and external auditors

Provide dashboard, reporting, and business analyses

  • Create and/or enhance standard OPEX and headcount reports and templates.
  • Assist in scenario and ROI analyses to support key management decisions.
  • Drive system and process improvement projects to improve work efficiency and increase financial visibility to business partners.
  • Provide guidance using solid application of sound financial business practices for business unit decision making.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Mathematics, , Business, Accounting or Economics
  • A minimum of five years of Accounting/Finance experience (or three years of experience with a Masters)
  • GAAP Knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Financial planning and analysis experience
  • Consignment inventory experience
  • E&O experience
  • Working with a sales organization experience
  • Public Accounting firm experience
  • CPA

Additional Expectations:

  • Proven expertise in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel, PowerPoint and related financial systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative and relationship management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and investigative skills
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of Edwards policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to financial planning and month-end processes
  • Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Solid understanding of multi-relational impact of the Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow Statement and how journal entries affect each statement
  • Solid knowledge of financial concepts and principles
  • Expertise in own functional area and ability to coach others in various functional areas impacted within the business
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Ability to interact professionally and independently with all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams and key contact representing the department on projects
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
