AWS Finance seeks a world class Financial Analyst to be a key member in its team supporting the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) business. This position will develop and improve financial models to aid in decision making for EC2 with a focus on capital efficiency projects. This position will work closely with finance management as well as key business partners across Amazon, including Fleet Management, Product Management, Engineering, Capacity Management, Data Center Operations, Supply Chain and other AWS products to drive thoughtful analysis and controllership in the EC2 businesses.
This role requires a self-starter and independent individual with strong communication and business partnering skills, financial modeling abilities, problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations. This role has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon and requires strong people skills.
Understand hardware generational changes and general business economics to develop financial models and analytical tools to measure overall financial performance.
Standardize and automate financial reports.
Report on financial performance and lead in the preparation of biweekly, monthly, and annual financial reviews, identifying and quantifying financial risks and opportunities.
Own and drive projects during planning and forecasting cycles.
Develop ad hoc business analysis and present recommendations to AWS management.
Partner with finance peers and the business to drive financial improvements in the business.
- 3+ years of experience in finance or a related analytical field.
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science) or equivalent
- 3+ years’ of experience in finance or a related analytical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
MBA or equivalent degree preferred.
Financial modeling, P&L management and/or analysis experience.
Ability to understand multiple business dimensions and draw inferences by connecting various inputs.
Great business partner experience; experienced in working with multiple stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills.
Track record of managing deliverables from multiple sources to meet challenging deadlines.
The ability to self-motivate in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment with competing deadlines.
Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a high degree of autonomy.
Experience with cube engine tools (e.g. TM1, Cognos or Essbase), SQL and Data warehouse.
Experience in a technology company or high-tech environment.
