Job summary
AWS Finance seeks a Finance Analyst to support the Regions Finance team in managing the growing AWS Public Sector business. The Regions Finance team supports business partners by providing financial decision support, P&L analysis, and controllership to a wide variety of stakeholders across the AWS Public Sector business. This position will work closely with key business partners and senior finance management to drive thoughtful planning and analysis to help drive important business decisions as the business expands. Specifically, this position will support the financial planning and analysis for the expansion of AWS Secured Space, and build out advanced financial reporting to produce key business insights for this fast-growing sector of AWS. They will work across a variety of stakeholders throughout AWS, including product managers, technical program managers, business intelligence engineers, and financial analysts and managers. They will build out robust and accurate long-term business forecasts, and present these forecasts to both business and finance leaders to help them make key business decisions. This person will then track how these forecasts align with actuals, identify the key business drivers, and quantify the P&L impact to the business.
This role requires a self-starter with a strong financial modeling background, problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations. This role has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon and requires strong people skills.
The successful candidate must be able to think strategically, perform dive deep analytics, and communicate effectively to senior management.

Key job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:

  • Build out and enhance P&L models for regions, develop business insights and KPI dashboards, and lead ad hoc analyses
  • Support the planning and analysis of OpEx and CapEx for AWS Secured Space, driving expansion financial decision making and tracking the financial impact as the footprint grows
  • Maintain and enhance Region P&Ls and financial metrics for existing AWS Public Sector regions, and build out reporting and analyses when new regions launch
  • Drive the financial planning / budgeting process for AWS Public Sector regions, and track the key drivers on how the regions are performing compared to the plan
  • Analyze new business ideas, make analytical judgments, and provide data intensive analyses to drive meaningful change
  • Lead key analytical projects that assist and influence the business.
  • Support the Region P&Ls and influence business decisions that drive revenue and/or capital expenditures
  • Develop plans and operational strategies for new initiatives to drive adoption in regions
  • Provide deep analytics and communicate effectively to senior business team leader

A day in the life
There is no standard day in AWS Finance. We tackle a variety of problems depending on the day, and the business relies on us to really understand what’s driving the financials and how to improve the business results moving forward.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in finance or a related analytical field.
  • BA/BS degree in business, finance or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant finance experience with increasing levels of responsibility

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA preferred
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Strong track record of managing deliverables from multiple stakeholders to meet challenging deadlines
  • Strong track record of business partnership
  • P&L management and/or analysis experience
  • The ability to self-motivate in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment with competing deadlines
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Experience in a technology company or high-tech environment
  • Experience with cube engine tools (e.g. TM1, Cognos or Essbase)
