Qualifications and Eligibility

Must be a registered medical practitioner with the Malaysian Medical Council or equivalent (recognised and registrable with the Malaysian Medical Council).

Must possess a postgraduate qualification in geriatrics/ primary care with geriatric experience/ general physician with extensive experience/ other subspecialty related to geriatrics.

Must be a registered medical practitioner for at least 5 years.

Roles and Responsibilities Teaching

Design, plan and deliver lectures, tutorials and other teaching and learning activities appropriate to the discipline, particularly at postgraduate level;

Assess student work and progress, providing constructive and timely feedback;

Review the effectiveness of teaching and supervision and proactively seek ways to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching and supervision;

Attend and contribute to Subject and Programme Boards as necessary;

Liaise with government and/or private hospitals and the local superiors (geriatrician) for student placement for clinical attachment;

Liaise with part-time lecturers re teaching sessions;

Engage proactively in professional development activities and continually seek ways enhance knowledge and improve practice.

Research

Conduct research in relevant disciplines;

Secure funding to support research.

Service

Arrange, manage and participate in internal and external events, such as open days, outreach activities, and visits to partner institutions and internship placements;

Contribute positively and proactively to the development of the university as a whole;

Provide academic counselling to students; referring them to other support services as required;

Foster collaboration with the Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine.
