Key job responsibilities
Our team is responsible for Prime Video Live Events Availability Programs (LEAP). We are deeply connected with the idea that live events are fundamentally different: there is only one shot at delivering the moment until it is forever lost. Service-oriented operational models have proven to be challenging to scale effectively for live events where availability is our most important feature and the core promise to customers. Our mission is to deliver best-in-class live sports infrastructure, monitoring, operations, and forecasting to optimize the delivery of live sports experiences at scale. We are looking for a talented SDE to build a virtual, start of the art incident management tooling and tech to enrich and expand our continuous “functional gamedays”. If you have SRE, Chaos Engineering or tool builder experience, this will be a great job for you. We seek diverse perspectives and create experiences for all people to enjoy. We strive to move fast for customers but prioritize long term decisions that will scale as we grow.

A day in the life
What you’ll do:

• Own architecture and feature development for our incident management tech.
• Partner with other engineers to ideate, design, and build scalable observability solutions.
• Drive test and release automation to increase system reliability and speed to market.
• Collaborate with product managers to influence decisions that deliver customer value.
• Shape the future of Amazon’s live events and sports tech.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team

We are looking for mid and senior level Software Development Engineers who are passionate about building compelling builder experiences. The ideal candidate will be passionate about simple and elegant software solutions, customer-centric products, cutting-edge features, and getting solutions in front of our millions of customers.

• Strong background in Operational Excellence
• Solid time mgmt./communication skills
• Brings strong opinions but loosely held. (Lets best idea rise to the top.)
• Comfort adapting to new development environments and changing business requirements, learning new systems, creating reliable/maintainable code, and finding creative and scalable solutions to difficult problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working within large scaling application design.
• Experience with systems and processes to validate and assert quality of applications.
• Experience operating and maintaining production software.
• Experience applying best-practice software engineering including some aspects of agile methodologies, unit testing, refactoring, code reviews, continuous build and deployment processes.
• Advanced coding skills (concurrency, profiling and performance optimization).
• Designed and built complex systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling).
