The Selling Partner Recruitment & Enablement (SPRE) Team is looking for a creative and results-oriented Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) with a passion for building systems that have a measurable impact. The right candidate will be innovative and technically versatile. You will be working in one of the world’s largest and most complex data environments. You will be responsible for solving complex big-data problems in our sales and category management spaces using a combination of your analytical and quantitative skill to identify growth opportunities and ensuring teams make data-driven decisions. An ideal candidate should have strong depth and breadth knowledge in data analysis and visualization, SQL, and data design. The candidate should have reasonable familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and a scripting language (e.g. Python, R). The candidate should be able to apply business knowledge to do broad data analysis as a precursor to analytics and to provide valuable business intelligence.

Key job responsibilities
• Build solutions (such as data sets, queries, reports, dashboards, analyses) to answer straightforward business questions with data.
• Challenge assumptions on the way things are currently done and help the tech team invent new tools or simplify existing ones.
• Build trust and drive urgency across other parts of the organization, the owners of the products that are impacting our Seller experience, and present to senior leadership to drive progress.
• Optimize the performance of business-critical queries and dealing with ETL job-related issues
• Dive deep into technical details (e.g., key dependencies, design choices, operability, etc.) with engineering teams and drive constructive technical discussions. Extracting and combining data from various heterogeneous data sources
• Make recommendations for new metrics, techniques, and strategies to improve the operational and quality metrics.
• Be connected and influential within the Amazon analyst community. Work with Data engineering and Software development teams to enable the appropriate capture and storage of key data points.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics or other business/analytical disciplines or equivalent experience
• 3+ years in relevant experience as data scientist, data engineer, software engineer, business intelligence engineer, or equivalent.
• Experience using AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, EC2, EMR and data pipelines
• Proficiency with data querying or modeling technique with SQL
• Experience with Business Intelligence technologies like Quicksight, Tableau, OBIEE etc.
• Experience defining and driving a BI roadmap.
• Data Warehousing Experience with Oracle, Redshift, Teradata, etc.
• Writing and presentation skills
• A desire to work in a collaborative, intellectually curious environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in BI, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance or related field required.
• 5+ years in relevant experience as data scientist, data engineer, software engineer, business intelligence engineer, or equivalent.
• Experience in data mining, SQL, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
• Analyst in a company with large, complex data sources and cross functional collaboration.
• Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.
• Expert-level proficiency in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large datasets.
