Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world leader in providing a highly available, durable, secure infrastructure platform in the cloud, powering hundreds of thousands of businesses around the world. The AWS Messaging and Streaming team owns and operates Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS), Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS), and Amazon Kinesis Data Streams (KDS). Our services provide AWS customers with the cloud messaging and streaming infrastructures needed for building highly scalable, asynchronous, and fault-tolerant distributed applications. We are looking for Software Development Engineers (SDEs) who are passionate about building, maintaining and driving the operational excellence of high-scale distributed systems.

We are looking for a Software Engineer (SDE) to help refine our roadmap and technical direction, and follow through with detailed architecture, tests, and reusable code. The SDEs in the AWS Messaging org raise the bar in operational excellence. Does this sound like you?

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in Computer Science, or Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience in Agile development practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
• Ability to mentor junior and other senior software engineers to advance their careers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in designing and building fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Experience in launching products that require collaboration across functional teams.
• Experience in operating high-scale systems on a customer-facing production environment.
