Job summary
Amazon is looking for an experienced Inventory Planner with a background in inventory or business analysis, operations, finance or supply-chain disciplines. In Stock Managers (ISM) manage customer inputs and work to remove inefficiencies in the supply chain. They are also responsible for automating and building scale for processes that otherwise require manual inputs and effort. ISMs work with internal and external stakeholders to build the right processes and mechanisms to improve operational supply chain metrics. This position is responsible for developing and executing category level sales and inventory strategies to optimize availability and inventory turns. In this role, you will have end to end ownership of managing inventory and driving the Replication and speed initiatives. You will also build strong partnerships with sellers, merchandising, Transportation, FBA and operations teams to drive toward common goals. To succeed in the role, you must possess the ability to operate from a company-wide perspective and will need to encourage cross-functional and cross-business project development. Responsibilities include:

  • Defines key in-stock metrics, establishes priority of metrics and works with CMs to achieve goals for the same
  • Establishes framework to manage unhealthy inventory on an ongoing basis
  • Participate in seller reviews; drive operational improvement through measurement and process improvement
  • Takes up additional in-stock related projects/initiatives such as trans-shipment for each category; supply chain projects such as driving FC consolidation with supply chain
  • Interact with operations teams and drive efficiencies through team collaboration
  • Develops annual in-stock strategy and channel strategy such as moving maximum units to flex vs. FCs based on category priorities
  • Manages peak inbound during Diwali, ART inbound strategy
  • Defines and achieves the inventory turn goal for each category to maintain healthy inventory (in collaboration with the FBA team) Achieve and maintain high in stock rates on replenishment programs
  • Builds automated templates for demand estimation taking into account category nuances; Streamlining of appointments
  • Drives tools to automate forecasting for sellers
  • Works with key sellers to drive processes to ensure in-time replenishment, streamlined replication & inbound processes for the sellers
  • Establishes mechanisms to reduce costs across the supply chain through processes such as reduction in long zone shipments

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Planning, or Inventory Management or equivalent experience such as Consulting, Finance, or Operations
  • Superior analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions
  • Excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Familiarity with the principles of inventory control
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Extreme attention to detail and willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • Ability to thrive in a high energy environment where tactical and strategic activities are expected to be driven in parallel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA
  • Curiosity to dig several layers deep into metrics, have an innate desire to understand key drivers and whether they are the correct or best metrics to measure/manage a business or process
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects – work prioritization, planning and task delegation
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast-moving environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
