Job summary
Amazon Australia is seeking a self-motivated, creative, and strategic communications professional for the role of Consumer PR Manager, supporting on proactive campaigns across Amazon’s flagship retail events, including Prime Day and Black Friday, Cyber Monday; programs including Prime; and categories. The right candidate will be a passionate PR professional with excellent media relations skills, who is willing and able to roll up their sleeves and get things done.

The ideal candidate is able to work autonomously as well as across teams and with agencies; has a proven track record of planning and executing cross channel campaigns informed by data that drive measurable results; and will demonstrate strong judgement and attention to detail. They will have a strong storytelling ability, a high level of strategic thinking, and experience in adapting communications to suit various audiences across earned, owned and paid channels. They’ll remain calm in fast-moving situations and become a trusted partner for a number of internal teams. They will also demonstrate exemplary writing ability, strong initiative, and a talent for seeking out stories waiting to be told.

Our team operates out of our fabulous CBD office (conveniently located near many transportation options), and from home (during COVID-19) leveraging technology.

Key job responsibilities
• Developing and managing cross-channel PR campaigns in support of business goals;
• Working closely with retained agencies and wider global teams to devise and implement strategies which enhance the reputation of Amazon’s offering;
• Working closely with other teams including marketing, legal, and others to gain approvals and deliver projects to deadline;
• Successfully managing fast-moving, complex PR challenges from both the business and the media;
• Providing strategic PR counsel and guidance to retail categories.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Ideally educated to degree level
• 7+ years agency/in-house consumer public relations experience
• Proven social and influencer experience
• Network of general news and consumer media contacts and a deep understanding of what resonates with them
• Track record of delivery on major campaigns
• Strong business-focused writing skills
• Strong stakeholder management experience
• Strong competency in basic Office software (Outlook, Excel etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven knowledge of the AU retail and online space
• Strategic – ensuring that PR activity delivers against business objectives and lands key messages
• Proactive in the extreme – enjoys taking responsibility and making things happen
• Organised – able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while managing essential admin work
• Leadership – able to inspire agencies to deliver and demonstrate responsibility for PR to senior managers
• Adaptable – able to work in a corporate environment
• Exercises good judgment advising others on the best course of action and managing positive and negative media enquiries
