Job summary
Are you interested in defining the future operating model for Amazon’s NA Capacity Planning? Are you excited by high-visibility, strategic supply chain solutions and like to help drive Amazon’s operations planning and forecasting? As a team player, you have an opportunity to work with some of the best Technical Engineers, Program Managers, 160+ FCs located across the network and Leaders to design the best fulfillment network on the planet. North America Supply Chain Operations team is looking for a business analyst who will work on highly visible strategic projects that will influence critical decisions.

The ideal candidate will have excellent statistical and analytical abilities, outstanding acumen and judgment, intense curiosity, strong technical skills, and superior written and verbal communication skills. S/he will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think and be creative (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoys working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you should have broad skills in base design, be comfortable dealing with large and complex sets, have experience building self-service dashboards and using visualization tools, while always applying analytical rigor to solve problems. In addition to leading the design, development, and management of our analytical tools and reporting, we will also look to this person to provide thought leadership and analysis support as needed. Your analytics will be used primarily by the Capacity Planning team, but will have influence on Capacity Execution, and Demand Planning teams. You will gain knowledge about Amazon’s operations in the capacity planning and forecasting space. You will work as a liaison with different stakeholders (Product Managers, Program Managers, Technical Engineers, Ops Engineering, Finance, and SCOT) in order to diagnose and solve complex problems by analyzing and providing recommendations. You will experience a wide range of problem solving situations, strategic to real-time, requiring extensive use of collection and analysis.

Key job responsibilities
• Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our analytical and needs
• Analyze key metrics to uncover trends and root causes of issues
• Suggest and build new metrics and analysis that enable better perspective on
• Capture the right metrics to influence stakeholders and measure success
• Develop domain expertise and apply to operational problems to find solution
• In-depth research of capacity-related issues, i.e., fullness, space utilization etc
• Work across teams with different stakeholders to prioritize and deliver and reporting
• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or other quantitative field
2+ years of relevant work experience in a role requiring application of modeling and analytic skills
Strong experience (4+ years of experience) with Excel, SQL and Quicksight is required.
Proven ability (2+ years of experience) to draw insights from user owned data sets with the ability to effectively communicate them to stakeholders.
Self-driven, with demonstrated ability to deliver on projects/requests when at times the request is clear but how to get there is not.
Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills with examples, from presented white papers or projects. (that occurred within the past 2 years)
Experience (2+ years) in gathering requirements from stakeholders to update or enhance metrics for data reporting.
Experienced (2+ years) working in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and comfortable navigating conflicting priorities and ambiguous problems while meeting tight deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with supply chain management concepts including planning, forecasting and optimization gained through work experience
Expert in writing and tuning SQL scripts
Experience working in very large warehouse environments
1+ years of experience in a engineer or BIE role with a technology company
Advanced capabilities with productivity software such as Excel and Access
