Job summary
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. In this role, you will be bringing that vision to life by designing, developing and testing the embedded software that controls individual satellites.

Our team focuses on Board Support Package (BSP), Security and Reliability, Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), and system management for our modem System on a Chip (SoC) used across Kuiper for our custom RF links. We are looking for an outstanding software engineer to participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other modern languages.
  • Write software to interact with devices/electronics and custom accelerators.
  • Work closely with hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing.
  • Work closely with wireless and networking teams to define and build interfaces.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • Bachelor’s degree in EE, CE, or CS, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience in delivering software in a production environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing embedded, real-time software in C, C++, or Rust.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hands-on experience with modems, custom SoCs, or other high-reliability systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Software design/qualification experience in radiation environments.
