The Amazon Search team creates powerful, customer-focused search and advertising solutions and technologies. Whenever a customer visits an Amazon site worldwide and types in a query or browses through product categories, Amazon Search services go to work. We design, develop, and deploy high performance, fault-tolerant distributed search systems used by millions of Amazon customers every day. Our Search Relevance team works to maximize the quality and effectiveness of the search experience for visitors to Amazon websites worldwide.

Amazon has grown rapidly and will continue to do so in foreseeable future. This scaling requirement poses unique challenges in designing and developing software for powering search experience. We are starting a new team in India to increase the pace at which Amazon expands to new countries, categories or product lines.

We are looking for a Sr. TPM to lead coordination with partner teams and manage the Relevance Intake Process, working with tech, design, product and other TPMs to make our partner teams successful. In this role, you will need to dive into data and metrics, develop excellent communication strategies, drive success through others and will have opportunities to collaborate with teams. You’ll develop deeper understanding of the technical capabilities of the Relevance infrastructure and working knowledge of the rest of the search engine and front-end.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Leading weekly feature intake triage for search features and owning day to day communication with category teams.
  • Drive process improvement by leveraging analytics, metrics and partner feedback.
  • Partner with our cross-functional teams to ensure we have the right engineering documentation to allow our partner teams to ramp quickly to build features in search.
  • Own reporting of SLA adherence and drive awareness of partner needs in the rest of the organization to inform search investments.
  • Prior experience with agile methodologies.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems
  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions to all organizational levels

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
  • 5+ years of technical program management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field
  • 5+ years of technical program management experience, preferably in the technology sector
  • High judgement and passion to delight customers
  • Proven success in delivering technology products/services in a high growth environment
  • Data-driven decision making and quantitative analysis skills
  • Demonstrated experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and effectively influence across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to guide cross-functional teams through influence versus direct management
  • Ability to earn trust across different levels and multiple groups of a large organization
  • Ability to think strategically while staying on top of tactical execution

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, management or related field.
  • Domain experience in any of the following: Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Search, e-commerce
  • Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product, business, and the competitive landscape
  • Experience delivering innovative experiences
  • Experience in non-technical aspects including idea generation, business analysis, and process optimization
