DEX defines, builds, launches and manages customer-facing delivery programs and features across all of Amazon. We own systems that power retail delivery (both customer-facing and back-end), leveraging company-wide technology solutions or designing them from the ground up. Together, DEX is changing how customers experience delivery from the speed, convenience, and selection features they see on the site every day, to launching Prime delivery benefits and other new programs to customers around the world.
The DEX Delivery Team is looking for a dynamic, organized and self-starting Business Intelligence Engineer for converting data into actionable business insights as part of a small team that is defining and building cutting-edge solutions to enable Amazon’s expansion into low priced products. As part of this team, you will design and develop reporting solutions, dive deep to uncover business insights, and build data pipelines to enable stakeholders to continuously improve the experience we offer Customers and Sellers in Amazon.
Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, comfortable working through ambiguity, conceptualizing and leading complex initiatives from end to end, and has an entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to working with many stakeholders internally and externally, this role requires working through ambiguity, demonstrating good judgment under pressure and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
A successful candidate will have strong analytical skills and can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivering results by applying business analytics. This role offers an opportunity to make business-critical decisions that will minimize costs while continuing to increase the quality and speed at which we deliver our customers’ orders. The position is located in Seattle, WA.
Key job responsibilities
• Translate complex and ambiguous business problem into reporting/analysis requirements and communicate the result to stakeholders
• Create, modify, automate and admin data pipelines and tables on the team’s data cluster
• Work with Product and Business managers to define the product strategy and priorities, conduct analysis to support initiative.
• Identify areas of risk and opportunity for the business, dive deep into the data to uncover insights that provide guidance to the team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Math, Finance, or related discipline
• 3+ years’ experience as a business intelligence engineer or similar. – Demonstrated Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Proven experience in developing requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting, familiarity with data visualization tools, e.g. Tableau
• Demonstrated ability to display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst, data analyst or statistical analysis role
• Advanced technical or business degree (MS or MBA)
• Analytical horsepower to break down complex problems, and a strong will to get things done and deliver results
• Excellent organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines
• Superior verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively with multiple teams and external organizations
