Come join the AWS Marketplace Team in our mission to change the way enterprise software is bought and sold! AWS Marketplace enables software sellers to reach all AWS customers, and it enables software buyers to easily discover, purchase and consume software. Our goals include enriching the platform to support more diverse selection, improving buyer and seller experience and implementing new capabilities to improve the products and offerings. Our vision is to make AWS Marketplace the one stop shop for buying and selling software just like Amazon.com is for retail.

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineers to help the team take AWS Marketplace to the next level. As a Software Development Engineer on the team you will own significant portions of the product and will have influence on our strategy by helping define the next wave of product features and system architecture. The systems are complex and there are huge opportunities to work at all levels from a set of robust platform services, to system level pieces and everything in between. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and is passionate about building quality software as well as achieving operational excellence. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are essential.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of success delivering new features or products. This person has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast. This person has strong design and implementation experience, strong knowledge of web services and protocols, and an in-depth knowledge of distributed systems architectures. Experience with asynchronous workflow systems is a plus.

Key job responsibilities
A Software Development Engineer on our team must be able to influence
technical decision making across organizational boundaries to enable AWS customers to discover, procure and
configure ISV SaaS software. They must be able to quickly dive deep into multitude of systems, communicate ideas effectively, earn the trust of other teams, and when confronted with discordant views, find the best path forward to influence and build consensus.
This role will be a primary technical point of contact for the SaaS product vertical, and would be expected to identify, escalate,
and mitigate any issues that arise related to SaaS products. They are force multipliers, designing technical solutions in
ambiguous problem spaces to enable the team at large to deliver software quickly and predictably. They are right-a-lot,
exhibiting good judgment and pragmatism in order to deliver technical solutions to business problems in an iterative fashion,
while preventing 1-way door decision making. They must exhibit high standards and raise the engineering bar across the
team. They contribute to the professional development of colleagues, improving their technical knowledge and engineering
practices through insightful code and design reviews.

Our North Star vision is to make AWS the unquestionably best place for cloud software customers to buy and run all kinds of SaaS solutions. We will achieve that by offering a comprehensive product selection and enabling customers to configure, launch, and manage third-party SaaS products as easily as native AWS services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience building scalable, distributed systems.
  • Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and best practices.
