Job summary
The Amazon Devices Demand Prediction Engineering team is looking for an energetic, focused and skilled Technical Program Manager to drive critical business goals and lead analysis, design and development of robust and scalable software solutions.

We materially impact Amazon’s Devices businesses by forecasting demand and business value for of all Amazon Devices using ML, economics, and big data.

We are a growing team that continues to operate in “startup” mode to prove new business ideas, while strengthening our core ML platforms.

Key job responsibilities
Some of the responsibilities are to drive scalable processes and digital solutions, create and track accuracy and performance metrics (technical and business), create, enhance, and maintain technical documentation, and present to other stakeholders, engineers and business leaders, design processes and technical solutions.

You are an experienced TPM looking for a career where you will be able to innovate, deliver, and influence. You have a demonstrable track record of success delivering high quality products and services. You are able to see the problem from the vantage points of a variety of stakeholders, assimilate these to arrive at a solution, and then drive towards the right solution. You have experience communicating at Senior Manager/Director/VP levels at the right levels of abstractions.

You are an individual with outstanding workflow and process design and re-engineering capabilities, problem solving skills, analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, are comfortable working with cross-functional teams and systems, and an ability to influence business and technical leaders in a dynamic environment. You will be responsible for researching, prototyping, experimenting and developing robust, scalable digital alarms, alerts, task and process automation, and visual data presentation solutions. You are open to new challenges, being data driven, and develop future game changing initiatives.

A day in the life
This role will be responsible for multiple process improvement, digital innovation and automation projects, and collaborating with product managers, scientists, economists, business intelligence engineers, data engineers, software engineers as well as business stakeholders. You will be at the heart of a growing and exciting focus area for Amazon Devices.

About the team
Our team develops scalable and robust software solutions to handle forecasting that involve distributed data sources and analytical models. The team is a focused engineering team looking for help with validating the technical decisions we are making and figuring out how to best solve our internal and partner’s needs. This role is central to the continued growth of Amazon Devices division that includes Kindle E-Reader, Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, E-Reader, Ring and many other devices. With better forecasts we drive down supply chain costs, enabling the offer of lower prices and better in-stock selection for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
• Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
• 5+ years of technical program management experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Able to work in a diverse team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strength in problem solving; high attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs and evaluate new ideas
• Demonstrated ability to work across functional disciplines to deliver online products/services
• Knack for improving efficiency in existing engineering processes to unblock innovation and improve speed of delivery
• Experience with agile software development methodologies like Scrum and Kanban
• Passion for innovation and learning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 5+ years of experience
• 5+ years of experience defining projects, collecting requirements, writing detailed use cases, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule and deploy new features sets
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership position in cross-functional, highly collaborative environment
• 5+ years of experience with continuous improvement of processes, systems, software and processes through data analysis and metrics
• Knack for improving efficiency in existing engineering processes to unblock innovation and improve speed of delivery
• Experience with agile software development methodologies, especially Scrum, Kanban
• Passion for innovation and learning
