The mission of Amazon’s Halo team is to create innovative new health, fitness, and wellness devices and services that help customers live healthier, longer lives.

Key job responsibilities
As a Principal Product Manager – Tech for the Halo devices org, you will be responsible for exploring and delivering new Amazon Halo devices (hardware) and device experiences (software) in the Health/Fitness/Wellness space. This is a rare role that requires significant Vision, Think Big, Exec Communication and the ability to work backwards from a far future customer obsessed visions to create compelling and concrete product proposals to review with leadership & stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to execute on your proposals as Lead PM through the entire product development lifecycle, and see it come to life with customers, directly impacting their health and longevity. You will own the core customer experience of devices, including software features that span across device generations and integrate with the Halo app(s).

We’ve just scratched the surface with Halo hardware and software experiences, and are looking for a creative, entrepreneurial, and business-minded technical PM to help identify and deliver new unique experiences to customers in Health & Fitness.

As a Principal PM-T, you will be the voice of the customer — both the end customer and our partners. You will define products that deliver innovation in features, usability, and product performance. This role is inherently cross-functional – you will work closely with engineering, design, operations, finance, marketing, PR, and executive teams to bring features and products to market, and grow business opportunities. We are looking for someone customer obsessed and technology savvy – with a passion for consumer devices and software.

A day in the life

  • Lead the development of the product strategy and vision supported by internal and external analysis.
  • Define and gather the necessary inputs to make high-quality product and roadmap decisions, creating and maintaining an optimized and logically sequenced roadmap.
  • Translating end-to-end customer experiences into clearly defined product requirements and user stories that can be used to create product specifications and architecture for each product and application.
  • Define project requirements, priorities, methods for measurement and track their execution and success.
  • Communicate with executives and senior management on project status, strategy, risks, and issues
  • Work closely with multiple design, engineering, product, and program management teams to deliver products to customers.
  • Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance and operational support load.
  • Generate buy-in for the product vision with leadership, internal teams, and with key external partners.
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals.
  • Evaluating business opportunities, defining and re-defining business models and applying, or creating, new and emerging technologies
  • Anticipating and resolving strategic and customer issues that impair the team’s ability to deliver
  • Leading cross-functionally to ensure the product vision is adopted and implemented effectively

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a technical discipline.
  • 7-10 years of professional experience with 5+ years of consumer facing product management experience in mass market consumer electronics.
  • Experience with e-commerce, retail, merchandising, and physical product sales & distribution.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating product development cycles and software development schedules.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions.
  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • MBA or Master’s degree.
  • Experience managing software products through multiple product lifecycles.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired.
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
