Job summary
This individual will be a leader in Office of Strategy Management (OSM), working with the World-Wide Technology Deployment (WWTD) teams to dive deep to develop and track metrics for key objectives and projects, gather quantitative and qualitative data, analyze it and present insights via consolidated reports, to the WWTD and cross-functional Amazon Robotics leadership teams. Purpose is to enable a highly data-centric environment to drive high velocity decisions and create transparency in progress of initiatives. The role will also be responsible for building and managing multi-variable models with predictive and prescriptive analytics, developing product and program progress metrics, and forecasting resource demand.

Key job responsibilities
1. Generate cross-functional models of past and current business and engineering data, and then use mathematical problem solving to generate predictive and prescriptive solutions.
2. Aggregate and analyze historical data for continuity, reliability, and validity.
3. Program and/or use existing platforms to build simulations from historical and current risks and issues.
4. Use agile engineering practices to iteratively develop Minimal Viable Product (MVP) models.
5. Partner with the Business Analytics team to transition MVP models into those shared organizationally as the gold standard of data-driven organizational direction.
6. Dive deep into KPIs established by leaders throughout WWTD and assess the validity of KPIs in terms of organizational impact, efficiency increase generated, and data sourcing.
7. Build and maintain trust to promote a culture of decision making based upon reliable, valid data sources.
8. Other duties as needed.

About the team
WWTD transforms Amazon’s new robotics and automation product technologies integrated with software and controls into operationally effective systems for our customers and partners globally. This transformation requires successful integration of “people, process, and technology”, to provide solutions that meet demanding standards for safety, end-to-end process efficiency, on-time and defect free delivery to customers. Accelerating demand for capacity across the Amazon fulfillment, transportation, and delivery network, requires innovation in standardized processes, tools, supply chain, and project management.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree (or Bachelors degree or 5+ years of experience) in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 2+ years of experience working as a data scientist or a similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling, and communication
  • 2+ years of experience using data querying languages (e.g. SQL, Hadoop/Hive)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MS in computer/software engineering, engineering, data science, statistics, mathematics, or related field
• Entrepreneurial mindset and change agent.
• Superior attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a view of the big picture.
• Ability to innovate while maintaining a focus on the customer and quality.
