Senior Technical Program Manager, Identity Services

Amazon

Our mission: To be Earth's most customer-centric company.

DESCRIPTION

Job summary
Who we are:
Identity Services – our team owns Amazon’s Account Creation, Account Maintenance, Account Recovery and Sign In experience. You experience us every day as a customer when you sign in, forget your password, or Login with Amazon on a 3P site. We own a highly trafficked part of the customer experience that is critical to ensuring customers can enjoy various Amazon products like Retail, Alexa, Echo, Prime Video, and Amazon Pay on various devices like desktop, mobile, and mobile web.

If you want your work to impact a lot of Amazon customers then this is the team for you. In order to shop, stream, or consume any of Amazon’s products and offerings, every person needs to go through the experience of creating an account on Amazon. If there’s friction in the process, we risk losing that new customer. If it’s delightful and intuitive, then we gift those new customers with an exceptional first impression of Amazon. We are the doorway to Amazon for every existing customer. Every customer needs to sign into their account in order to have meaningful experiences with Amazon, whether that be streaming Jack Ryan, purchasing a pasta maker, or accessing their Seller account. How can we innovate on the experience of authenticating to make it as frictionless as possible and at the same time protect the account information?

Our team is important. Every aspect of Amazon depends on our systems to know who the customer is; if our systems are not up and running, the company stops. We balance keeping our systems fast, scalable and performant (no exceptions!) with rapidly delivering great features for Amazon customers. In short, we get to own and innovate on the authentication and authorization experience for our customers while also supporting nearly every other business at the company (the best of both worlds).

It’s an exciting time for Amazon, especially within our team as we build new trend setting products in the Identity and Authentication space. You will be surrounded by people who are passionate about Identity, and believe that we are only scratching the surface of what our applications can really do to help customers everywhere. This team has a “Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History.” attitude. Do you want to help drive large scale programs to build innovative solutions to simplify how Amazon customers authenticate on devices ranging from desktop computers to mobile phones to TVs to cameras and smart home appliances to Alexa? Can you help Amazon build compelling user experiences that help our customers rely less on passwords? We are simplifying our services to enable innovating Customer Experiences around Account Creation, Account Maintenance, Account Recovery and Sign In experience including improving Account Security. If you want to be part of this journey and are looking for a challenge, now is a great time to talk to us!

Work/Life Balance
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn’t about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it’s about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer high degree of flexibility and encourage you to find the right balance between work and personal life.

Mentorship and Career Growth
Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our TPMs truly enjoy mentoring and on-boarding new team members through one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, doc reviews. We care about your career growth and ensure that you are working on high visibility, large scale programs. We take your career goals and objectives into account when deciding ownership areas for team members – that helps each team member develop into a better-rounded TPM and enable them to take on driving more complex programs in the future.

What you will do:
As TPM on the Amazon Identity Services team, you are the bridge between our engineering team and the rest of the world. You’ll expertly use the ancient TPM art of influence without authority to work with other engineering teams, product managers, UX Researchers, designers, and executive leaders to shape the future of Amazon’s login and security based on your judgement and leadership.
