You’ll own your work from design to deployment, evangelize it and ensure its operational excellence in production. Amazon’s Alexa Video team develops software systems and programs that voice enable the video experience for our customers.
As the Principal Technical Program Manager, you will own program that drive delivery of new voice features for Alexa Video customers, working with teams and leaders across the company. You will be responsible for scoping and delivering large programs end-to-end. Your responsibilities will include program definition via collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving program schedules from design to release, and managing the launch and roll out. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote program teams. You will be assessing the efficacy of current DevOps and operational excellence process, building structured programs, and driving execution to deliver new capabilities to our customers.

About the team
In Alexa Video, we are working to make voice the best and most convenient way to discover, control, and engage with any of their video content on any screened device. That includes major video consumption devices like TVs, Streaming Media Players, Set Top Boxes, and personal and mobile devices. It includes rich integrations with all manner of video content providers from major streaming services, Short Form video services , Social Media videos, Live Streaming services, and even individual content creators. We leverage Alexa’s intelligence to fulfill the customers’ intent and unlock their video content universe using both voice and on-screen interactions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience in technical program management with a proven track record of delivering large and complex programs
- 2+ yeas of experience in product engineering
- 5+ years of software development experience, preferably in high level languages like Java or C++
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
- Experience managing efforts in Unix/Linux environments, distributed systems and/or developing large scale web applications
- A first-hand working knowledge of current web technologies
- Experience with business applications such as Word, Excel and Project
- Computer Science fundamentals experience in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
- Computer Science fundamentals experience in networking and operating systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience influencing software engineers, infrastructure engineers and operators on best practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects
