Amazon Financial Technology Team is looking for a results-oriented software development engineer, who can help us create the next generation of distributed, scalable financial systems. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys the challenge of highly complex business contexts that are typically being defined in real-time. We need someone to design and develop services that facilitate global financial transactions worth billions (USD) annually.
As a Senior Engineer, you will play a leading role in the architecture, design, implementation and deployment of large-scale and complex software systems. You will learn and explore new possibilities and leverage your experience to deliver innovative solutions to challenging problems. You will communicate your ideas effectively to achieve the right outcome for your team and customer. You enjoy collaborating with others to increase the effectiveness of the overall team. Your code, design, and implementation decisions should set a great example to other engineers. You will also have the opportunity to impact the technical decisions in the broader organization as well as mentor other engineers in the team.
Key job responsibilities
Primary role is a full stack senior software engineer designing and building user-friendly and intuitive applications, build big data systems that crunch TB scale of data to automate accounting processes.
Drive best practices and engineering excellence.
Development of code in Java, Scala using Spark, query languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python).
Analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context
Respond to high priority requests from senior business leaders.
Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- 2+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field
- Strong grasp of Service Oriented Architecture
- Experience with large scale distributed systems
- Experience with Amazon Web Services
- Experience with Hadoop ecosystem
- Experience building complex, highly scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience with Agile software development in a UNIX/Linux environment
