Amazon Pay is looking for a Head of Design to help create the future of payments!
Amazon Pay is a service offered to Amazon customers, and you are enabled to use it wherever you see it whether that is clicking the Amazon Pay button when checking out on your favorite online stores, managing your payment methods in your account on Amazon.com or using Amazon Pay on Alexa. There are no additional sign-ups or sign-ins. Your transactions are safe and secure, and everything can be tracked in your Amazon account.
With Amazon Pay, Amazon is seeking to re-invent payments everywhere customers want to shop. Our vision is to serve all Amazon customers worldwide and to expand into new markets. This role has global impact and you will play a major role in shaping our vision, defining our roadmap, and ensuring our customers have a delightful experience. We are focused on building a product that serves merchants across a broader range of categories. New payment initiatives include expanding into new domains, in-store, bill pay, geographic expansion and more.
Key job responsibilities
- Create the vision for developing, communicating, and implementing the user experience; follow through with the processes and tactics to implement the vision
- Grow, develop, and lead a talented team of experienced UX designers, researchers, and design technologists
- Model excellence in design and champion mental models across features and product releases
- Create and rapidly iterate on ideas in order to develop them, via storyboards, user flows, mock-ups, and prototypes, or other methods
- Influence cross-team conceptual development; working with members from Product Management, Program Management, and Software Engineering
- Work strategically with team members across the organization
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role
- 5+ years of experience leading teams of 5+ senior designers in the creation of consumer facing experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
- An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating user-centered design solutions
- Experience working in a collaborative team, publicly white-boarding, and working directly with developers for implementation of designs
- Experience presenting to and influencing senior management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience defining UX frameworks in highly ambiguous situations
- Demonstrated ability to deliver large scale strategic design initiatives with a bias toward scalable systems and patterns
- Experience designing, guiding, and implementing formal and informal usability studies
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, exhibiting strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous customer-focused problems
- Proven track record for partnering closely with other teams to influence positive outcomes and propose well-informed new directions
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization, including Engineering, Product Management, and Senior Leadership
