Job summary
We make Alexa to speak and sound as natural as human being – every text-to-speech synthesis is going through our service. Our team implements new features to let Alexa skill developers use a rich variety of mechanisms to deliver exceptional experience to Alexa users. We make sure that Alexa cloud-based voice service is available on ten of millions of devices from Amazon and third-party device manufacturers.

Our work is characterized by high scale, complexity and the need for invention. We offer great opportunities to work on low-latency distributed systems in the machine learning space.

Key job responsibilities
• Designing new features of the system
• Working on low-latency distributed systems in the machine learning space

A day in the life
Our daily duties are around delivering new features, improving our operations by automating manual work and resolving operational issues of the service of high scale.

About the team
Alexa TTS Features team works on Alexa related aspects of our Text-to-Speech Service. It features evolution of Text-To-Speech and develops customer facing enhancements in order to meet and exceed the needs of Alexa developers and users. Our work is characterized by high scale, complexity and the need for invention.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, C/C++, C#)
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby, Perl)
• Experience with Linux/Unix systems and Bash scripting
• Solid knowledge of CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures).
• Strong personal interest in learning, researching and creating new technologies with high commercial impact
• Attention to details and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Professional communication skills and ability to contribute to team discussions
• Working proficiency in English
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in shaping architecture of computer systems and products development lifecycle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with CI/CD systems and build automation
• Knowledge and experience with various processes in the full SDLC (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build systems, integration and deployment, maintenance, updates, etc.)
