The quotes above are just a few of the real life headlines our TPM team helped generate in the past few years. We not only teach Alexa new languages, but we also own the Alexa multilingual experience as well as initiatives to optimize the Alexa architecture for making it more flexible and nimble for international customer needs.

We’re looking for a Sr. Technical Program Manager to reinforce our team and lead emerging programs.
We are hiring in Amazon locations in Seattle, Boston, Arlington and LA.

Key job responsibilities
This TPM role will lead cross-functional launch programs across the entire Alexa organization to bring new Alexa features to our customers. As the Technical Program Manager for Alexa you will have an enormous opportunity to impact the customer experience, design, architecture, and implementation of a cutting edge product that will be used every day by people in brand new marketplaces.
Table stakes for this TPM position will be to anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance customer and business needs versus technical constraints across a broad array of stakeholders. Your ability to take large complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner will be critical. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, innovative Technical Program Manager who thrives on solving tough problems. High judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent, and leadership are essential to your success as the TPM for Alexa.

A day in the life
TPMs participate in the whole lifecycle of programs. We typically drive a couple of programs in parallel in different phases of development. For each program we start helping in defining the product vision, working backward from customers. We lead initial planning and dependency commitments. Once we have milestones set we drive execution, managing weekly launch readiness meetings and reporting on status advancement. We usually dive deep in some element of the program each week, inspecting product, technical or program elements within our dependencies. Once we deliver a program we hand over the business to our product team, and start looking for the next feature to develop.

About the team
The Alexa International Expansion team delivers new products for our global customers. You will be joining a select group of people including Program Managers, Software Developers and TPMs in Alexa who are dedicated to serve Alexa international customers.
We work closely with science, engineering, devices and in-country teams. We are used to work with geographically distributed colleagues, but we are also open to travel occasionally to meet our peers and build strong relations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical field or relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of Technical Program Management experience in a related industry, including hands-on management of large, cross-functional software efforts
  • Experience managing cross-functional technology, product management, QA and testing teams to deliver complex products
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or another advanced degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • Experience managing efforts in distributed systems and/or developing large scale web applications
  • A strong track record of successful project delivery for large, cross-functional projects
  • Experience working in a Software Development Team
